DVD+R drive to use to burn backups?

I've just recently been looking at making backups, and checked out a few sites and forums including this one.

What are the most reliable drives and media to use to make backups for the 360?

I have a 360 with the BenQ drive.

Any help appreciated.

well, youll need a samsung shd-162c drive to read the games and any good dual layer burner will work. most poeple use the pioneer 111d, i had it a while back and it worked great, but i replaced it with a samsung sh-183l once i burnt out the pioneer drive. as for media, you should use verbatims. they are more expensive, but worked great. ive only had about 3 coasters out of 500+ burns.

Thanks for the reply.

Looks like a lot of people will use the Pioneer. All the guides I've found are old, and refer to older hardware. And Kreon supported drives appear to be hard to find.

Ah well. I'll consider it an investment. :p

I Use a Benq DW1655 for all my burning needs. Has been a great burner for the past 1.5 Years now. Of course you can no longer get that exact model but any Benq dual layer burner that uses Q-Suite 2.0 would work great.

ebay is about the only place to find the shd-162c drive.
