This is possible via FW toolbox correct? All I would need is the drive key right?

ya, all you would have to do is flash the 78 with the 79s key, but i dont see the point of replacing it though. your going to have to chip the 79 to get the FW off of it, so you might as well just leave it there.

That's true. I forgot about the fact that you have to chip it to get the drive key or anything. Shoot lol. Does anybody have some good instructions for soldering on the chip then? I have yet to find them. Also, I'm not sure though, but isn't there two ways of soldering on the chip; one with the ribbon wire, one with just wires? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

All help is appreciated greatly

Regards

Yeah there are two ways to install the chip like you mentioned. One of the ways is using the ribbon header kit or just soldering directly to the points.I'm not sure if you have it on your Hitachi 79 pcb board, but if you got the black epoxy on it you will have to remove that as well. There are two techniques for doing this, one way is using a heat gun and the other is using Jasco Epoxy Remover.I actually prefer the epoxy remover over the heat gun,but it doesn't have to be Jasco it can be any type of paint stripper that contains dychlorometayne and it should work.I recommend Jasco, because it is safe but it does take awhile to get all the black epoxy off.Everybody that uses it has different techniques, but what I do is put a little bit on don't get excessive with it and wait for awhile then just use an old tooth brush to scrape it off with. The best way to solder the ribbon header kit on is using a pyro pen,and you would use the same technique pretty much used for the TSOP chip removal.I should have mentioned that if you do mess up,you can remove the TSOP chip and plug it into a Willem programmer to get your key etc...so you can replace the drive inside of your XBox 360.I don't know there are plenty of techniques, but hopefully the ones I'm giving you are pretty good bro.

Alright, great! Thanks a lot for the info.

Question: do you know where any decent diagrams are for the installation? I've looked everywhere, and I've found diagrams, but none with good instructions.

Thanks
