Have a TA-85 slim PSP along with a Datel Battery Tool. When I bought the PSP supposedly all that was needed to be done is use a pandora and unbrick it. So I read up on tutorials and first used Universal Unbricker. Everything worked fine according to the lights. After firmware success used every configuration (battery/ac configurations) and still a black screen. Then I was told I used the wrong tools/firmware so I went with the PSP Grader Lite Tutorial. This time I did see an installation screen, installed all the necessary 3.80 files and pressed 'X' to shutdown after the success screen. Again, no matter what configuration NOTHING shows up.

Any ideas?

Edit: Oh yea, and after the Grader Lite here is what happens for some configs:

Simply putting in original battery = Green LED.
Datel: LED
ONLY A/C - LED for 15 seconds then power off.

Was I ripped off or something?

the battery is working if you saw the menu or if the psp does not bootup without the power supply its got to be a memory stick problem maybe a corrupt file try rebuilding it what guide did you use?

Well I bought this PSP off someone who said all I needed was a Pandora's battery and I'd be set (yea, he felt like leaving out some stuff). With the Datel Battery Tool AND the original battery, it says green consistently, it DOES not power off. The A/C ONLY configuration is the only way where it shuts off.

In terms of seeing something, I've only been able to see so far the install screen for 3.80 firmware which I used for this guide:
http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=136070

And before that, I used the Universal Unbricker installation which had no screen but DID install successfully.

Oh and I meant with the Datel and Original that the green LED is on but the screen is still black. And I've used a 2gb Sandisk DUO.

You need to create a normal battery. Sounds like what happened was the psp battery was created into pandoras after the firmware was installed with the datel. If you have a battery recovery, use it and all's good.
10-1 says if you put a normal battery in it it'll boot normal. If you don't have a copy of the eeprom of it anymore just use someone elses.

I honestly don't know if I did that but my battery was not hardmodded and you can't even use software to change my slim battery into a pandora.

This isn't always the case wasted420. I average modding about 20 a weekend and find that some won't boot with power supply only. I find in about 3 of twenty, i have to put a normal battery in and power supply to boot to XMB. Some I find don't even boot with the slim battery and have to boot it with a fat then all is good. Don't know why some have this issue but I assure you it happens.

When I plug it in I get a black screen and it shuts off after 15 seconds. That is the main problem I am having, with anything but the firmware install I get a black screen.

Sorry for the double post.

Put the slim battery in the psp, plug the charger in, you might have to piss with it to get it to turn orange like it's charging. Let it charge. About an hour. Then it should boot fine.

Hope this helps.

that is odd i flash custom firmware as well in the phoenix,az area get about 10 or 15 a week from craigs list never had that problem(only been doing this since october 07) i reflash the firmware if any problems arise i recreate the mem stick and start over but i've never had a psp not start with a charger but start with a battery very strange and interesting if you come across another case you might post at www.lan.st for a fix, would be interesting to see what causes that.

I've never recreated a memory stick. I've used the same installer on at least 200 since the UPMS saffire came out. The only thing I do is delete the 390 update from MUX when i'm done and ready for the next. If i have an issue with a fat I'll use a gui installer but that's it.

Not been an hour but the funny part is that even though the orange light comes on, it then goes off after about a minute or so. In order to get the orange light back I have to replug the PSP and even after all this it's not starting.

It's possible the battery is full.

When you pull out the battery and place back in the psp does the psp boot green light by itself.

Oh and just noticed that with the Datel in, the PSP actually stays on but still a black screen, no random shut off though.

that may be the problem you may have a corrupt file on it you stated you had this problem about 3 in 20 im 0 for about 275 with this problem i wonder what would cause that. also i redo anything before i post just to make sure its not my fault or a bad program you know as well as i do if you post a pandora question the first response is recreate the mem stick lol that and i also completely redo my mem stick when an update comes out just to be on the safe side just redid it yesterday for DCv5

I'm stumped. Not totally though. It is possible that it could be some small water damage or crossed ribbon connection causing the error.

@wasted

I've learned if it ain't broke don't fix it. I'll just add the update in MUX and keep using it.

Screw it, I'm just going to be a new PSP pack and be done with it since I already have pandora's battery and mem stick. Want to thank you guys for your help in the matter, I honestly do appreciate it. Got it off craigslist for pretty damn cheap with 6 gigs of memory so I'll just ebay it.

How much would you give me? I'd throw in the A/C adapter and the original battery. Taking pictures as I speak for ebay.
