Has this burner worked up until now?
Unless it was a laptop, I would be installing it in another machine to see if the problem stayed with the hardware.

I'm assuming the burner is fine because i can burn cds and dvds, but only (dvds using dvd shrink in conjuntion with nero) but when it comes to WMP-11 it doesn't want to know, again it says windows has encountered a problem and has to shut down, what should i do???

Try using 'VLC' as the media player.
