I would say I am in no way a complete n000b when it comes to doing things like this. I have read MANY articles on how to flash the Benq drive and which tools to use.

Motherboard: ASUS A8N SLI-Deluxe (latest bios installed)

For my first attempt at flashing the BenQ drive I did the following steps as listed in the 2008 total noobs quide.

-Prepared an NTFS4DOS CD since my motherboard would not boot a usb.
-Partiioned a 32mb drive (N) using partition magic
-Completed all steps using iprep and xtreme firmware v4

-booted computer into ntfs4dos and loaded iprep autoexec.bat
-hit yes
-when asked to turn the console on for 2 seconds and off for 2 seconds by computer is still not able to read the drive.

I currently have my hard drive connected to my motherboard using the (red) SATA 1 port. I have 4 red sata ports and 4 black SATA raid ports. Which of these should I plug the sata from the 360 into?

I was thinking of using a usb thumb drive to hold all of the required files and boot that using ntfs4dos so that I could use the sata 1 port that my hard drive is currently using for the xbox?

I dont really understand what is going on and its really starting to frustrate me. If anyone could help me on here or reach me on aim I would greatly appreciate it.

I can be reached on aol at: BrentH560

I am a paypal verified member will be more than happy to cover your time and trouble. Thanks!!!!

I had some problems flashing my first BenQ also, and I was not new at flashing drives either I had just never done a BenQ.

My pc would not read the firmware from my drive I followed the (total noob for flashing benq) tutorial. This is what I had to do different. In the instructions it says when you boot your pc to have the 360 turned off! I had to have the 360 turned on instead! and it flashes fine.

Now that worked for me Im not saying thats your problem but you never know.

I had a very similar problem with my benq. I tried just about everyting. The way I got mine to be read was:

Turn on the 360 with the sata cable plugged into the 360 but not the computer.
When you get to the part to turn you 360 on/off. Thats when I plugged the sata into the computer and it was finally able to read the drive.

awesome guys.. I really appreciate your respsonse. I am in class now but im going to be giving it another go tonight using the advice given. However I was told that my mobo was not capable of connecting with the xbox 360 and that I would need to purchase a VIA card. This is not a problem but my mobo is Nforce4 so why wouldnt it work?

For my problem do you think i should use Iprep or dosflash?

here is my plan for tonight.

1. prepare my usb drive so that I can grab the iprep files including the new firmware at 12x.
2. Power off computer
3. Start bios
4. Insure RAID is disabled
5. Set boot priority to cd rom
6. Disconnect all SATA and IDE cables (leaving one of my cd-rom drives available.)
7. start the ntfs4dos cd and run the cd IPREP_~1 AUTOEXEC.BAT file from the usb drive.
8. run iprep and hopefully prepare a successful flash.

Prior to booting the ntfs4dos I will have my xbox connected to the SATA 1 port on my mobo and turned ON (this slot is currently being used by my hard drive)
6.
