So i bought this RROD 360 so i can fix it myself. the error code is 0021 and without the DVD drive it is 0020.

now, they say its either 1) bad flash. or 2) bad solder Southbridge.

so How can i find out if its been flashed?

If i send it in to MS, sealed up nice.
(different shell case, mine is torn up. same manufacturing year)

Can they tell if "a" xbox 360 has been flashed?!?

Can they recognize if my shell case, doesnt belong with my hardware?

i have a Toshiba-Samsung march 2006 and my new shell case is manufactured in 2006 as well.

Someone told me that i could go to target or wal-mart and by a new one, switch hardware and then return it saying that i dont want it anymore.

but that sounds a little iffy

Your shell case has the Xbox's serial number on it, so unless you are able to switch the serial number sticker, they can tell its not the stock case that came with it.

As far as whether your drive has been flashed, a good test would be to plug the DVD up and look at the firmware.

Oh BTW, the Target/Wal Mart scheme is a sure fire way to get yourself arrested. Most of the those retailers have trained their employees on how to spot a tampered seal, so I'd say the possible reward of a new 360 isn't worth the threat of going to jail.

well i could maybe swap my stickers...

all they would do at most is look at the sticker seal and the back part where it has the srial # and Man. # which would be the same...

I'm interested in seeing if you can get that serial number sticker off and replace it without it peeling off.

I think your best bet is to just send it in and see what happens, worst case scenario they mark it tampered and send it back.

I've read forums where people say they send their moddded/opened/no seal/banned 360s all the time to MS and usually get refurbs.

Of course this depends on where you live, I think this is only prevelant here in the states.

i mean, if i were to take the stickers off. i could prollu use a iron and a blow dryer to get the glue hot enough to peel easily.

when i bought it it had a MTC INC sticker on it. the seller told me that it was the sticker they used in canada. i guess i can ask them if they accept that.

do not send it in. test it first. of course they can tell if its fw has been changed, its micro$oft, and they have kinda been banning people for it. and changing your fw sorta has a legality to it, even if you own the xbox.

dont bother wasting your time attempting to peel the serial number sticker off, it wont happen, its a lot easier to just change the top of the case out (the side with the sticker) with another case in order to get it registered or to swap it out with a new one from wal-mart, best buy etc. but you have to make sure you do a good job on getting the warranty sticker off.

If you swapped cases I would think Microsoft could tell,Cause I'm sure that the serial Number is stored on the xbox itself in a chip, you might get it replaced but down the road when they decide to fix yours ,they would be able to trace you down threw your info you provided when you reg it.Either send it in way it is in hope for the best,Or send it somewhere have them fix it,or fix it yourself. It just is'nt worth it to get Busted.

i bought this new shell case and it is pristine, i cant send my original one in because it defintely looks tampered with...

i would think my best bet it to just get the manu/serial # sticker off and place it on my new shell case...
