I currently have a VOB file that is just a bit to big to fit onto a dvd and for whatever reason won't transfer to my external hard drive (I believe due to size). My question is how can i get this file from my laptop onto my PS3 without reducing the size and quality it is in. It is a 720p movie with a size of around 5gigs.

Thanks for any help

drives that come from the factory are in some type of fat format

in order for them to store files over 4GB you must reformat your hard drive to NTFS
open my computer>right click on the desired drive> and select the format option

you will lose all data on the drive so back-it-up

sry i can't help you with the PS3, maybe ryu77 will come by:)

I found it easier to just buy some Dual Layer DVD's and burn the .vob files on to there. The PS3 will copy the data from those plus now I have backup discs of the movies in case anything happens.

Also now it takes about 3 to 5 hours less to reformat a file type. Switching from .vob to .avi takes for ever when you don't have a dual core processor.

Sometimes the simplest solution is just out of thought. lol

Thanks for the suggestions from everyone. Now the next time I get a new drive I know how to format it without issues.

make sure all your converting software supports dual core processor types (D core, core 2 duo and such)

LOL older software works the same on my core 2 (a bit faster) as it did on my P4 xD
