ISO's are an exact image of the disc. CSO's are the ISO compressed to a smaller file. Depending what level of compression they used the smaller it is. Some uploaders don't test there compression so the game might get choppy.

hmmm i see. what sites test their compression and are good to get backups from?
Ive read that to play a cso, i would need to have a UMD in the psp as well. is this true?
If i convert the cso to an iso using "PSP ISO Compressor v1.4", would it be a 1:1 iso image of the game like it orignally was? or is it a (lossless compression), or whatever you call it when you can never convert it back to exactly what it originally was?

Iso = Uncompressed image normal speed...
Cso = Compressed image, less space so could be laggy sometimes load longer compared to iso etc.
Personally i use cso because i dont see much of a difference of slowness etc however on bigger games e.g. gta i think its better to use iso so not to risk serious lag.
the reason that you would want an iso would be if you had enough room on you mem stick, you wouldn't have as many potential problems. the value of a iso vs a umd is that you can have a bunch of iso's on a mem stick and don't have to carry around all your umd's.
