i installed devhook .52 on my psp, i dont want that anymore i want to use the offical sony Firmware. i accedently formated my memory stick (i relised that this was a bad idea) and tried to upgrade it with several games (tekken 2.71 and Ratchet and clank 3.11). i just end up getting a blank screen with only the X and O button showing on the bottom. i have to reset the psp by removing the battery.
so i re-installed devhook .51 how do i get from here to being able to use sony's offical Firmware?

i already searched this forum for info, but nothing realates to what i want to do.
and i know that this is my first post (sorry about that)

I'm just curious as to why you don't want CFW?

As for returning to regular sony firmware. just put the 3.90 sony update into your MS:/PSP/Game/update folder. you should be able to run it from the menu after that

Custom firmware is cool. Don't upgrade to Official firmware. Go to 3.90 M33-2 and you won't have to use devhook anymore. You probably had some bugs.

If you really want Sony Official firmware then do what Ex hoc said.

Yeah, Devhook is kind of dead. there really is no reason for it. I can;t think of anything you ca do on dev hook that you can't do with the latest CFW. and also 3.90 M33 is everything that sony could offer and more. so you would only be loosing if you went back to sony's firmware.

well i really wanted to get access to the internet, and i think my devhook is having problems with it. and as i dont really need to burn iso's onto my memory stick. i see no need going throught he whole hastel of a custom Firmware. sony makes it soo easy to update.

i tried updating from a game (2.71) and that went to a empty screen and i had to reset the psp, so will putting it in a update folder be different?

thay have made m33 lazy proof after 3.80m33 you use the xmb network update to update your custom firmware and iso's go in the iso folder and launch from the xmb without the need for devhook hassle is no longer a good excuse lol

Lol, yea, you could be bothered trying to use DevHook, Custom Firmware is far more easy to "install" than that, actually untill recently it was easiler, but now Custom Firmware installers use the GUI of the SCE Updater, which is slower.... so now they're the same as official updates.

You also said you didn't want to use the fuction to rip your UMDs to your memory stick, that's only a minor point in custom firmware, it's got a whole lot more going for it;

Homebrew - User made games and applications, many different things with many different uses. Examples of applications; text readers, a universal remote for TV etc, currency converters and calculators. The list goes on. As for games, there's so many great, simple, addictive ones; ports for snake, pac-man, tetris etc, and new games coded totally from scratch.

Emulators - These are programs which emulate another system, these let you play games designed for that system on your PSP, some include; NES, SNES, MegaDrive, Neo Geo, DOS, N64, GB, GBC, GBA...

Custom Themes - These change the appearance of the XMB, boot screens, loading screens, sounds etc. Far better than the ones Sony allow.

Inbuilt PSX Loader - A hack of the official Sony PSX loader, allows you to run many of the original PS1 games on your PSP.

Inbuilt ISO/CSO Loader - Lets you run any PSP game or film from your Memory Stick, so you don't need the UMD, as in you can download games :P

PSP, all the way from 1.00 to 5.50 GEN D2 - DS Lite w/ M3DS Real (M3 Sakura v1.34)
PS3 3.01 - iPod Touch 2G 16GB Jailbroken - Xbox 360 60GB - PC, Q6600, 3GB DDR2, GTX260 (216) 896MB
