markarman,
Hi I flashed the box with a null modem cable and the image from chris. When I searched the channels it found them all but only the FTA channels work.
I got the epg for the other channel ie ss1 but no picture. I restarted the emu but no luck.
Am not sure I am scanning the right area. I live in derby, uk. any help would be appreciated.

follow chris's tutorial
after you flash his image re-boot the box
then scan your service provider
then re - boot your box
then put it on sly sp+rts news and just wait
chris has said this a million times you have to wait a while for the codes to update from the original ones on the image to the new ones currently being used. sly sp+rts news is one of the stronger channels and gives you one of the quicker updates. be patient.
it does work just look at all the posts of thanks he has had.
his tutorial is very comprehensive too.
oooh forgot to say... when you flash his image and it asks you if you would like to perform a flash erase click no

When flashing mate with null modem.
When asked TO FLASH ERASE CLICK NO!!!
And try a free air channel first then wait a minute on another not so free to air channel.
Problem solved.

Ok thanks for for all the replies Chris and Markarman.Your are extremely patient with all us non tech heads.I,m sure when i flashed the box I presed yes to flash erase.Doh!knew I had to goof up something up.Got the box working by manually changing the code.Quick question, am i better off just flashing the box again.As always thanks for your help.

what image do you currently have flashed on your box ?
where are you ?
what cables do you have ?
all the answers are on here somewhere, cgscotts tutorial is very comprehensive,

Sounds as if you have an old image that dont have area scans.
Best i can suggest to you is to download my image which is posted earlier on in this thread but just for you i will post once more
New tutorial
1. You will need relevant software so that your box can be fixed properly.
Dream up, Flash Wizard. Dreambox Control Center. Extract the file and autorun the program. A small box will appear with the relevant software.

2. Now you need this image i have FULLY WORKING! This is a flash wizard file and need to be flashed through the flash wizard program or through Dreamup . PLACE THIS IMAGE ON YOUR DESKTOP. EASY TO FIND.

4. Once you have connected to the dreambox. Open Flashwizard. Go into configuration and ultilies at the bottom of the box. Make sure the ip of the dreambox is the same as the one in dcc. It should be. If not change it.
Now Click Install a Firmware to flash memory. Now you will need my WORKING IMAGE. You downloaded above. Click the open folder tab. Browse for the image. Should be on your desktop as instructed above. Click open.
The image should now be visible in the box.
Now click flash image backup. This will install the image to your box.
Takes approx a minute.
Once completed reset the box. PLug into ur tv. And try.
It should now show that the flash is installed.
Do the scan using your area. For example Uk or ntl ie etc.
Once the scan has finished check your channels. TRY SS1 FIRST. If you dont have the channel. Reboot box. This time the evocam should startup and will roll the channels.
This is the simplest way to install this image. If this doesnt work or you have problems connecting to your dreambox you will have to go down the null modem route. Please leave me a message if you have problems with this.

i have a friend who is interested in buying a dreambox..he lives in louth in ireland and does not recieve n*l..he was wondering if he was to buy an n*l dish would this work for a dreambox and would he recieve full capability of a dreambox..??

When you say a "dish" I assume you mean an MMDS antenna.

MMDS is not a true cable system because it uses a "dish" .. a way a cable company "transmits" it`s signal to your house to an antenna without digging up and laying down the fibre optic cable.
Searching the web there`s frequency issues but it`s not impossible...

i have just got my dad a linux digibox is that a dreambox ? im reading the instructions its saying you can get saterlite off if you have had s*y installed and other satterlite stations eg the foreign soccer channels could somebody help me please with the info ...cheers

It will say DREAM multimedia on the front if it is a dreambox.
Your post suggests it`s a satellite box.. perhaps a DM500s?
The "s" meaning satellite.
This forum is for the 500c (cable)
Search the other forums for help for your particular box.

Good man Chris....
Your image is working great.
Since my first post I have managed to flash six of my mates
boxes using your images and four worked fine first time but two needed flashed a second time and away they went. I reflashed fails by using crossover method instead of nullmodem. I dont know if this makes a diference but they worked second time around so all are happy.

hi all
can someone please help me. I have a dreambox 500c, one day it was working and the next it just went off. Now it wont connect to my tv and therefore I cant obtain the ip address to reflash it. can someone please help me?

hi cg im looking to get the latest image flashed to my box. i checked my laptop but it has 15 pin female port.
the box has a 9 pin male port so what do i need? cant seem to get a null modem cable with with the correct pins!
my pc has the correct port for me to flash the image but i wanted to use the laptop as the pc is so bloody slow now.......
if you or anyone knows of anything that could help it would be much appreciated :)
