if the flash you put on is cg scotts image then it will auto update for you. without the need to do anything.

can any one help me???? what do i need to do
the problem that seems to happen most is when you flash the new image when you are asked if you would like to delete the old flash/image YOU MUST SAY NO.
try flashing again from the beginning, and click no to erase, when you reboot give it a minute or two to download the new key info.
if this still doesnt work re-start the evo-cam !!
good luck

Thanks Markarman for passing your thanks on to Chris, very, very much appreciated.
He`s a real friend of mine but he`s not feeling too good just now and I would be really grateful if you and everyone else he has helped could wish him a speedy recovery.
Thanks Chris, without your time and input most of us would be still struggling.
Get well soon buddy,
Ron

have you tried rescanning?
if that didnt work you are going to have to reflash your box, near the beginning of this thread cg scott posted a comprehensive instruction. just follow that.
make sure you have the correct cable, and when you flash and it asks if you want to perform a flash erase you must click no.
good luck

thanks for the reply.
i have a laptop with no serial port so i used a null modem cable with a usb conversion socket, it plugs into the dbox and the laptop but dreamup is not picking it up.
do i need another cable or a pc with a serial port?

i had the same problem many moons ago.......
laptop - usb port - null modem cable - dreambox
you are either using the wrong type of cable or your com port is not set correctly for the usb port you are using. try changin the com port i think mine was com 5.if that doesnt find the box then....
trust me, invest in the cable cg scott suggests, he has even posted links to where you can buy them. i went around and around for ages before i discovered this simple mistake. once i got hold of a "null modem" cable (and usb adaptor)it all worked first time. dream up found the box and away i went.
one thing to try first. open dreamup and uncheck the use network box, then start the dreambox. if you have the correct cable and correct com port selected it will find the box and the ip address straight away. if it doesn't then you probs have the wrong cable or wrong port set.
there is a tutorial from cg scott for using a standard usb cable and an ftp programme (filezilla is free) but although i got this working the null modem cable is 1000 times easier and they are peanuts to buy.
dont forget to thank cg scott for the great new image and tutorials.
good luck

Hey cgscott, heard you're not well. Hope everything works out for you dude.
Thanks for the advice about how to fix this little issue we're all having. I had already done the basic stuff ie bouncing the cam, then the box then powered cycled but no joy...
I've rescanned and bounced the box and then restarted the cam but didn't seem to work.
I've rebooted the box with a system reboot and now by pulling the plug. But no luck.
And I've been leaving the cam for about 5 minutes between each stage to give it a fair chance.
I'm not busting your balls, just letting you know that us DM500C types are still boned.
