thanks phase 123.. I managed to go by old directions given by satlinksw to another hopeless case like myself. the guy is a genius. Box singing and dancing like before. thanks for all the help..

it doesn't actually flash erase the old image (which is what you need)
let it completely flash and follow the remainder of the instructions i am sure you find it works.....

Hey,
I'm in Cork area with a 500c.
I have not tried flashing my box yet as it is in a different location...but I have a crossover cable not a null modem....I can get a null modem cable but then I need to have a Com port on a machine I connect it to, now this is possible for me to do as we would have old computers knocking about with them in it but it would be a pain to do.
Is it possible to fix without a null modem cable?
I just need to flash one image file to the box after connecting to pc and it should be ok?
also earlier I saw someone try to connect the box to his router....would it be possible to have my box constantly connected to the router so that I could easily use my laptop wirelessly to change files.
Thanks for your help, I'm a complete noob at this, but I noramlly catch on quick.

hi sheehy,
yes you can "flash" with a crossover cable, scroll up and follow cg scotts instructions for ftp'ing the box. i use filezilla but i beleive he uses dcc. its more difficult but do-able.
btw when i use my null modem cable i connect to my pc via an adaptor which is usb to seriel port.
you can connect permanently to your router and wirelessly connect via the router, but you should connect to the router with an ethernet and not a crossover cable. there IS a difference.
i will paste below the links to download cg scotts images. when you flash via null modem and it gives you the option to perform flash erase you must click no, else there will be problems.
you simply flash either of these image,
re start the box,
scan your area (i am in dublin but when i scanned ntl dublin i got no transponder so i tried bruteforce uk and it worked)
choose a strong signal channel (i use rte1)
restart the evocam (press and hold info until the menu comes up then press ok to restart the evocam)
wait for 5-10 minutes for the box to autoroll the codes.
all should be good from there.

Anyone get this to work on a DMC-500C on N*L in Dublin? I flashed it to my Dreambox, did an Auto search using N*L Ireland Bruteforce ("Dublin - N*L" wasn't locating any transponders) and found all of the channels but only S*y Sp*rts Xtra, RT? 1, Set@nt@ Ireland, etc are working!

Sorry I'm new to all of this but if I get a problem I can usually mess around with it until i get it working.
Yesterday the box stopped working and just displayed a blue screen and when I press exit I get an error message displaying "No channels were found" and then it tells me to search for channels. When I search it finds all the channels then i reboot and get the same problem.
Will the fix you suggested help this? So far I have managed to get FileZilla working with the box but i am unable to transfer the file onto it. I can take files from the box however so it sounds like a permissions problem. Is there an option to allow files to be transferred onto the box.
Also when using the ip i assigned to the box in the web browser it cannot connect, I'm not sure if this is to do with it.

Thanks Chris for your great link on how to update dreamboxes never done them before but followed your advice using the null modem method and got 5 boxes going again so a big thank you and happy new year:)

Hi im new do this and it seems the more i read this post the more i get confused. i dont have a null modem cable. The link for Flash Wizard Image is dead. persumably all i will need is the flash image and an cross over cable to get this box working. can anyone post or send on the flash image file

New fresh images No double Channels Added today
Right heres the crack guys. Everything you need is in this image simply go to menu and Autosearch transponder. Scroll right to the bottom of the list and choose your provider i.e Bruteforce UK Chorus etc.
Do a scan once this is finished go to a premium channel. I always select bravo.
Click info for few seconds restart the cam and WAIT!
Within a few minutes you will have everything.

hi guys, first time trying to fix this so forgive me if a little confused. i have tried to download these images but it just doesnt seem to work for me. also if anyone has a real idiots guide how to get the chanells back it would be appreciated. i am using a mac if that makes a diffrence? thanks

I done everything your guide has said to do and i get as far as resetting the cam. The scan finds all the channels but when I reset the cam I still cant view them.
Its because the codes are not valid or deleted as you said. Is there any way i can manually enter the codes because for some reason the auto roll isn't working for me. I'm in Dublin and I use N*l has anyone else had a problem from them?
Any fix will do at this stage I just want the channels back.

i posted what i did as a first time newb i never even seen one of these boxes untill today
i set up tcp/ip on my ethernet card as instructed from the dreambox how v.0.5.chm link that was posted earlier
i could not get in to expert mode as someone had setup a pin number on the box. pingged a few ip address ,guessing until i got a response from 192.168.1.2. ran flashwizard 6.3 chose to restart the box, box restarted witch confirm i was connected to the right device.
dragged the freshimageworking.fw2 file on to falshwizard 6.3 that was posted in previos post.
when that completed i waited for about 5 mins but no repsone from the box. unplugged box switched back on. now have totall different screens. followed advice "to simply go to menu and Autosearch transponder. Scroll right to the bottom of the list and choose your provider i.e Bruteforce UK Chorus etc." this is scanning away for ages while i type this instructions.
then i relaleased there a message saying valid transponder found press green button
now i have loads of channels.
