Should be able to null modem the image again. The image is fine so I would think something has happened during the flash.

hi phase,

maybe i am reading something wrong but i think he has erased any old image on the box and then flashed cg scotts new image on its own, when i originally done that the box didnt work. so i flashed my old gemini image back on then flashed chris' new image over the top. i think when i asked chris about this he confirmed that his new image was a fix and not a complete new image.

this could be his problem but i dont really know for sure. i am onlu going by my trial and error in the past.

I think he should be able to re-flash. It`s worked for me in the past. Sometimes the image gets corrupted during the transfer.

Now when ive downloaded the new fresh working image its.fw2 file and doesnt show up in available flashes?

this could be his problem but i dont really know for sure. i am onlu going by my trial and error in the past.

you have downloaded the wrong image.

you need the null modem image and NOT the flash wizard image

if it was the null modem image then

re start your box and plug the cable in
go to menu then set up then service searching

then scan your area (i used bruteforce uk in dublin)

then wait

when its finished scanning press and hold the info button (on the remote) and restart the evocam

then choose a strong signal channel (i used rte 1)

it will download the keys (roms) automatically

any time i start up dreamup i load the image and connect. it says power up dreambox and when i do i get the blue screen error and my laptop restarts. i'm running vista using a usb to serial adapter. did anyone else ever have this problem. its happened twice. is it easier to loads an image with an ethernet crossover cable and is it much different to do. any suggestions welcome thanks

A lot of people have had problems with a usb serial adapter.

I prefer to flash with the DCC and crosover or router.

Look bk on previous posts for information on how to flash.

Plus the images are there.

Firstly ..Thanks very much to the guys from last night.
Second as advised ill try to explain as simply as i can how i got it to work.Briefly the problem was that the dm500c was totally frozen.Black screen and would not boot at all.So what i done was.

I first downloaded the gemini image.

Connected box with null modem and flashed across.
When asked if you would like to perform a flash erase i clicked no.As adviced to me it will not work unless you say no.

Next i flashed cg scotts new image over the top and again asked asked if i would like to perform a flash erase i said no.

Next i restared the box and pluged the cable in and went to the menu, set up and then service searching.I used bruteforce uk.Im in tallaght dublin.

That was it i went to rte as advised and all was good from there.

AS i said before all the hard work was from the guys from last night.thanks again.

My Box just flashed "double exec" Press OK, I didn't get a chance to press OK when it just went to Digital Kaos start screen. All channels lost ?
Any Ideas ?
Reflash the Image again and do the Usual or ?

Have Dreambox 500C - using NTL Dublin. In trouble - have done the following:
1. Connected using null modem cable - uploaded dreamup file and autoroll file (from CScott last April).
2. Connected Dreambox to PC and opened Dreamup file
3. Connected Dreambox to mains
4. On first attempt - did flash erase - went through 1 - 3 above again when (Ensured 'Use Network' box was unticked).
5. Uploaded autoroll file
6. Disconnected from PC
7. Connected to Dreambox - did scan on NTL bruteforce
8. Did have RTE but could not get BRAVO or many other channels
9. Started EVOCAM (by pressing blue button on handset)
10. Receiving channel information but very few channels with picture
11. Tried scanning with different providers.
HELP
I really really want to succeed but need help. I have tried really hard to solve this myself. I am not really a technie but very keen to learn. Thanks in anticipation of any help.

Right heres the crack guys. Everything you need is in this image simply go to menu and Autosearch transponder. Scroll right to the bottom of the list and choose your provider i.e Bruteforce UK Chorus etc.

Do a scan once this is finished go to a premium channel. I always select bravo.

Click info for few seconds restart the cam and WAIT!

Within a few minutes you will have everything.

GUYS I HAVE TSETED THIS BEFORE I POSTED IT UP SO I KNOW IT WORKS.

Also i deleted the keys from the keylist.txt as it rolls and adds its own keys for your provider so you will only have 2 lines in your keylist txt.

Thanks Hadmad - will download and proceed - did not have up to date file obviously.

Do you know how to delete the keys from the keylist.txt - I am clueless about that.

chris' latst image has no keylists at all.

once you flash it and scan your supplier it will onyly add the keys you need.

also on the new image you press and hold info to get the menu to restart the evocam
