dreamup will not recognise the files as ite only for flashing full images. you need to use an ftp programme (i use dcc and its fine)

Download filezilla its the best ftp program i think, google it
Connect your box to your router using a ethernet cable
Go to expert setup, then comm setup and find out ip address for dreambox
Type in username- root and then password- dreambox
use filezilla to ftp to transfer files into var/bin and change attributes to 755 by right clicking the file then to properties and change the number at the bottom to 755.Then on box pressed blue button and go into tubox commander and selected var/ bin the hypercam 1.06 is visible in this folder highlight it and press ok to execute and save settings then exit out of tubox went to s*y sport 1 and waited for a minute
then changed to s*y sport 2. and bingo back in business.

I didnt need to use a crossover cable. Just used a ethernet cable and connected it to my router from the dreambox. Then got the ip address from the expert setup on the dreambox and put it into filezilla

i used Flashfxp to ftp the files, i wouldn't work with a ethernet cable , so tried with a crossover, work 1st time.
Maybe the diff' programs makes the difference.
Cheers for the advice last night Westham.

To use ethernet it must be connected through a router. With Crossover it is a straight connect from box to pc/laptop.

@dreamboxy
A crossover cable is usually only required if you are connecting your dreambox directly to your pc/laptop.
What westham88 was doing is exactly what I usually do - connect to the dreambox through a router. dreambox -> router -> pc requires ethernet cables, not crossovers. So, dreambox ==ethernet==> router ==wireless==> pc will do the job. It's easy to do it this way if you have your dreambox on your home network all the time, connected to the router so you can do updates and listen to dreamnetcast, or stream tv to your PC, or stream movies from your PC to your dreambox to watch on your tv etc, etc.

i actually used the crossover along with the router, it worked, thats the main thing i guess.
wasn't aware of being able to get updates for the box that way, via the router - net. Nor was i aware of the PC-box-TV set up, seems the Dreambox has alot more uses than i knew of.More info on that would be helpfull.
Also i just noticed that Lenny has a flash image posted with the 3 new files already installed, it would save some a bit of hassle with FTP, its back a little on this thread , called "for bear" image.
i used it yesterday, just re-flash with null modem cable using dream-up, and jobs done. No FTP required.

I can't seem to find Lenny's flash image and i've gone through the thread 5 times. Any chance of a link please ?
Thanks

Forgot to mention that I renamed the image file from the rapidshare download to "backup.img" so that dreamup could find it.

Is it that you can only get a few channels when you scan or is it when you do all the steps only a few channels come through and the rest are blank?

Only a few come through and the rest are blank, the info is there for all of them (epg ?). On the user interface, on the far left, just under where the picture should be, channels that do not work display a key icon illuminated in blue and channels that do - do not.

This is the procedure that has worked for me Dreambox 500c
Flash image DK1.1 to dreambox (I use Dreamup and null modem connection.) google dreamup to find software but you need to buy a null modem connection
When it says do you want to flash erase click no
reboot the dreambox and search for all your channels using Dublin NTL
Connect the dreambox to tv and with a ethernet cable to your router
Click in to expert mode and comm to find your ip address
Click into filezilla and put in ip address
Username is root and password is dreambox
FTP the three files ( I used filezilla to FTP the files) Google it to find software and for the three files go to http://www.dvb-upload.com/index.php?action=download&pid=271910
hypercam. cfg
hypercam.keys
hypercam _1.06
into your VAR/BIN folder in the dreambox
when the files are in the VAR/BIN folder, right click on each of the files and change attributes on all three files from 644 to 755
reboot dreambox
Press blue button on remote, to go to Tux Commander.
Select var folder
select the bin folder
hightlight hypercam 1.06.
Press red button to execute,
press exit
press red button to SAVE settings and exit.
Tune to Sky Sports or Sky Movies and wait a minute or two, then change channel again.
All channels should now be available.
PLEASE NOTE: if you execute the hypercam more than once it will not work. Also when you plug the dreambox out all channels will be gone but you just have to execute the cam again

I did it all again, flashed the image using dreamup, did the transponder search and then used the ftp protocol outlined above and "Hey Presto"- i'm back in business, ALL Channels !
THANK YOU WESTHAM88, i'd buy you a pint if I could !
Now, if I connect my box to the pc again with the null modem cable using dreamup and save a backup to my desktop, will that image file be a working flash ready fix for other users to install without them having to go through the ftp process as I did ? (I'm sure that not everyone has a router)
