Is it possible to flash my broken wiikey using the homebrew chan/ trucha hack

Here's the deal. My wiikey bit the big one after i played around with the region free settings getting the japanese version of SSBB to work. After many hours of attempted recovery my wiikey will no longer allow the drive to read originals or backups. Ive tried pulling the chip out but its quicksoldered in there pretty good. So I went ahead and purchased another drive with a wasabi chip and am back up and running but what I want to know is this: I've installed the homebrew channel on my wii now that i have a working drive again, Can i use the homebrew loader to possibly run the .dol for a wiikey config disc in an attempt to reflash my other drive with the busted wiikey? Any help on this would be much appreciated.

This worked for a friend of mine but Im not sure if it would work for you. Try burning the 1.9b Recover disc WITHOUT filechoping it. See if that works for you first.

i have been trying every method of recovery i can find through these and other forums. chopped and unchopped. it wont recover. i would just like to see if flashing it using the homebrew chan would work as a proof of concept. i appreciate all other help, but what i really want is to try flashing it via the homebrew chan hack...
