this is really kinda funny...

i was trying to un-mod my pandora battery with some solder and i tiny copper wire and my hand touched the hot part of the soldering iron and i pulled back my burnt hand but the soldering iron went straight into the lithium battery and it burst into flame. so not thinking at all i threw it across the room and it went out on the wall and then it exploded... AGAIN so i put a mug on top of it and eventually it went out and now theres a big burn hole on my rug....

my hand hurts

Lithium batteries can be very dangerous. I use them in my R/C helicopters and airplanes if you run them to low and then charge them or short them out they will swell up like a balloon and explode into a ball of flame LOL. We actually have to charge them in a porcelan or clay pot called a battery bunker to be safe.

here is a video of what they do http://www.zippyvideos.com/1283898095732286/lithiumbattery/
I have seen this happen while the battery was still in the r/c airplane and burn the entire thing to ashes lol.

stinkee2 atleast you have a good story to tell. To bad about the carpet lol

wow, that sucks. I remember when my friend try to open his battery, and cut it, he said smoke came out, n he was really scared. Nothing happen though, it still work, but it leaves some weird scent that prob not good for you. As with the coldheat soldering iron, they don't work good, maybe mine was defective, but they dont heat up well, and the tip is huge.
Seeing that video scares me, but thats why good batteries are protected against overcharging, and so are good chargers.
