Urgent help!
My wii was working perfectly fine till I put my friends legit copy of super mario sunshine into my wii.

Now, when it tries to run a DVD of any sort (including backups), I get the message "An error has occured. press the eject button and remove the disc, then turn the Wii console off and refer to the Wii Operations Manual"

Is this fixable? Do i have to send the wii off?
I dont think I can, because my wii is chipped.

Thanks!

If originals and backups give the same error then I'd say it was a lens problem... possibly dirty or worse, damaged. At your own risk you can try a DVD lens cleaner. If you send it back to Nintendo they will repair it and remove the modchip - they will return the console and the modchip as well. I would expect you might be charged for the repair though.

I get this problem every now and then. The manual tells you what to do. Just unplug the AC adapter from the wii and plug it back. Clean the game and put it back in the wii. If the same thing happens you have a problem with the console.

The warranty is only good if you didn't tamper with it yeah - that's why I said, "I would expect you might be charged for the repair though." And yeah they'll give you the chip back - it's yours so why would they keep it? This has been documented by ppl who've been thru the repair process - apparently they stick it in a lil plastic bag which you get back with the repaired console.
