Guys

I am complete novice with electonics, In fact it is safe to say i no nothing! So i am hoping someone can give me a little advise with installing the mod chip. I have a Wii with the D2C chipset, I have done a bit of research and found that the Argon is one of the better chips to use and it works with D2C chipset. Firstly, is this correct?

Secondly as I have never soldered before so I am a bit weary about destroying my Wii because I have done it wrong. So will the neoflex aided align fpc for argon be of any help? what is it like to install? what are the install instructions like? would I be able to understand it bearing in mind that I know very little of electronics and its terminology?

Thanks for you time

Yeah Argon is a great chip along with Infectus 2 ( from the same ppl but with the programmer included).

Not soldered before ever - very risky even with neoflex... I'd get it done by a pro modchip fitter. Anything is possible but it's also a gamble and you should only consider doing it if you are confident in your skills. You can get a soldering iron and practice on some old circuit board to see how you get on but I'd not try something like this cold cos chances are you will botch it.

Thanks for your reply JuniR

I would be weary sending my Wii off to a complete stranger.

But you are right, I would be better off getting a pro to do it. Can anyone recomend the best place to send my wii to get chipped?

Thanks

There are some very good and reliable modchip fitters about but you'd need to give your location if you want ppl to advise you of one nearer to home. You don't want to be sending it across the Atlantic Ocean really ;)

The Infectus site has recommended resellers in the UK.

http://www.infectus.biz/resellers.php

Among these is modchipfitters

It's looking around £120 for Argon plus programmer with collection, fitting & return - which I think isn't bad... To buy the chip, programmer and equipment (soldering iron etc) to do it yourself would cost prolly about £80 plus the time and stress. I've read good things about this service and if it were me I'd be happy with that price but you can look around and see if there's a better option.

Whatever you decide - make sure you know what you're getting because the programmer isn't included with the Argon.

Thats very help thanks JuniR

Well the Pre-soldered Wiiclip and Argon install kit would be alot cheaper than to get it sent away. I think I will waite and see if anyone else uses this method. It would deffinately interest me if it was easy for a noob to install.

Has anyone had the fortune of fitting one of these yet? Is there any good news sites where I can keep up to date on the developments of this/other clips?

Also, is the argon garanteed stealth?

ppl have fitted the clips yeah - you'll find results, discussion and reviews if you google. There have been a couple of ppl from this forum that have bought them, though I've not really read much about their experience here.

...and all chips have stealth. I'd not worry about the chips from Infectus being seen by Nintendo in the future either.

looks kosher to me - Googled about inc. checking whois search etc. and seeing that the guy who runs this site offers support on other forums and even argues with some guy who suggests his price for changing a lens is too high LOL.

You can call the landline or skype him thru the day so if you're interested in finding out more give him a ring. I would actually consider using it myself if I know anyone who wants me to mod their Wii and the price is good. Not everything you see on the net is too good to be true. I got my brand new Wii pre-modded from Germany last year for a LOT cheaper than they were going for in the UK and that included shipping to the UK - and I had never heard of the site nor known anyone who'd used it. Yeah there are some dodgy sites but tbh I think they aren't that common.

hopefully someone can help me out...my wii has an argon for a little over a month now and everything was working fine i went back in to add +4 (pal) the system still played ntsc and back ups fine but still no pal (i forgot about the update thats where the problem comes in)
after attempting to install the update a window popped up stating that the driver could not the read plug in and the system malfunctioned
is there install for dummies re:all needed to run infectus programmer?, .biz offers little help on tutorials
and my 2nd problem is since the failed update when i power on the console i get the welcome page and am able to link the remote but the console wont accept any games (the blue light on the drive comes on for a split second)
also the drive is not making that "whuring sound" when i try to put in a game lol HEEEEEELllllP!
