Replacing Internal Hard drive

I'm looking to relace my internal hard drive with an internal desktop drive...thats 3.5 inch. I tried a WD 750GB drive and it formats then reboots. When it restarts it just comes back up with the wave and the background and the music...Does anyone know of any drives that do work that are 3.5 SATA and are atleast 500GB and up? Thanks

You can't fit that drive in the PS3. You can do a mod but the 3.5 inch drive will remain on the outside of the PS3.

yea i basically took an external enclosure and I am using the power from that to power the drive and I am using a sata male to sata female cable to connect the drive to the PS3. I just need to know of drives that are 3.5 inch that will work and are huge in size lol.

If you're going to use that method basically any SATA drive should work. But I foresee a problem because the drive isn't plugged into the PS3's power so it might show an error.

Yea it says it cant read from the drive sometimes. I wonder if I have to time the power on of the drive with the ps3. I have to use external power though because the drive pulls more power than the laptop drives do and I dont want to screw up my ps3 or make it freeze.
