I think that you need to look at your PC and configuration before looking for a different program.
1. There aren't any AFAIK
2. No one else appears to be having the litany of problems that you have reported here.
3. I have had almost 0 problems with either program
I suggested that you run Rawdump in safe mode. Did you try that? I have made several (over 50) backups in that configuration and have had 0 errors.
Yes, I tried running it on safe mode. And received unhandled errors several times. With friidump... I tried warioware, and it was working but the iso wasn't saved on the computer.
There is nothing in your software so far that should be a problem.
The only other obvious things I can think of is:
1. Bad/dirty source DVD
2. Dirty DVD lens
3. Downrev DVD firmware (not likely because I am still using original firmware in my 8164 and 8162)
Are you having problems dumping all discs or just certain ones?
If you are able to dump some discs but not others it points to the DVD itself. if you are not able to dump any discs I would say that it may be another component in your setup. Running in safe mode pretty much rules out software, which would then point to hardware., which could include the drive controller, drive cable, and the drive itself.
I am about out of suggestions on this one. Once you have established some kind of baseline you should be able to narrow it down from there. I still don't think that it's Rawdump or Friidump that are your problem.
Maybe it might be because of the DVD. I still try cleaning it and try over and over again (even using safe mode), and still I get unhandled errors with Rawdump.
