PAL Mario Kart hit the 'scene' not long ago, time to start a thread... ;)

First I think its wise to get the latest 3.2 update via interwebz no matter which region console you have

PAL on PAL
Pal version on PAL console, you should be find to just simply burn the ISO with IMGBURN on good media (as always), run the update and play.

PAL on NTSC-U
Pal Version on NTSC Console, seems most have had success with patching the ISO with Brickblocker and Regionfrii.
Not doing the update will mean though that you do not get the Mario Kart channel, but the game will still run.
If you do the update and get the channel, you wont be able to access it as it will return an error.

NTSC-J
Japan Release is now out, use your own region and you shoud have no problems.

001 Error

PPF Patch
GBATemp Mirror

NOTE: You will need PPF-o-matic which you can get here...
PPF-o-Matic
Online
Looks Like the servers are now online (for the time being) and WFC and the Mario Kart Channel are all now working.
If you are of a paranoid disposition you might want to wait until the offical release date.
Seems inter-region friend play also works.

Other stuff
The game is a DVD5 so single layer DVD's all you need.
Game saves are not transferable to an SD card.

Controls
Wiimote on its own.
Steer by tilting the Wiimote up/down.
2 = Accelerate
1 = Brake
D-Pad up = throw item forward.
D-Pad down = throw item back.
A= Look Back

You can use the Remote and Nunchuk.
A = Accelerate
B = Hop,Drift,Brake
Analog stick = Steering
C = Look Back
Z = Use item

And you can use a Game Cube controller
A = Accelerate
R = Hop,Drift,Brake
Analog stick = Steering
Z or X = Look Back
L = Use item

When using the wheel you'll use the 2 button for gas and the 1 button for braking and reversing. Hitting up on the D pad lets you throw an item forward, while pushing down throws it behind you. Hitting left or right will let your character hold on to the item to help you deal with incoming projectiles.
When using a bike, we can perform a wheelie by a quick upward motion on the wheel and get both tires back on the ground by motioning down. Powersliding is back and works well, as does drafting. New to the series is a trick system that you can check out using any ramp in the game. When you're airborne, if you quickly make an upward motion, your racer will do something acrobatic and yield a speed boost when you land.

Hold Wiimote sideways (DPad to the left 1 and 2 buttons on the right).

Steer by tilting the Wiimote up and down.

2=speed
1=brake
B=throw item
A=look behind

For those wanting to know I have ARGON 1.8 NTSC(U3.2) regionfrii and WiiBrickBlocked the ISO and works perfect.

The first burn I only had WiiBrickBlocked it and received read error. After patching with regionfrii and reburning it worked perfect.

fantastic news but may as well not have been released till may 1st anyways. Damn exams lol.

Larry I can't use the wii now, does the online work?

Since this isn't supposed to come out for 4 days.

Nintendo probably took a sh*t when they saw online servers being banged from requests before the game is supposed to be out lol!

Also props to MOMENT for the 0-day release.

Never tried online and won't take the chance playing online till 11th on launch day. Even then I will probably wait till the NTSC(U) version comes out toward the end of the month.

I understand your concerns, yet at the same time I doubt Nintendo of Europe/America will come tracking down people individually who try to log on lol.

If anyone has the balls to try online b4 April 11th post here (just curious lol).

There will be a lot of Journalists/Reviews/even VIPs with the game already legitamatly, so online 'should be' OK.

I remember getting a copy of OutRun2(360) from a friend at Sega weeks early and being only 1 of 4 guys on the leader boards..

Does anyone who's downloaded it and is playing the game know if any Trucha modified discs still work? And is there any update required to play the game?

Apparantly there is a forced 3.2E update, but brickblocker+regionfrii = should take care of that.

Awesome, but can you still install the MarioKart Channel that shows Rankings and stuff? I heard if you modify the ISO you can't. Does online still work?

If you have an NTSC-U Wii...

- Firstly, you will not be able to use the Mario Kart channel. If you try to open it, it will give an error.

- The game will ask for an update. However, if you just use Brickblocker then you won't have to worry about updating and will still be able to play.

- The game is a DVD5 (don't have to worry about DL stuff).

- Game saves are not transferable to an SD card.

- Apparently, US players have been able to play online with UK players. I haven't tried this personally, but from what I've read it seems to work.

My poor index finger is still recovering from SSBB :)

Hopefully this one won't be as bad.
Same deal as the others - keep it to one thread instead of spreading through the whole Wii forum & no piracy, language, yada yada yada.

If the thread does get lengthy the 1st post can be edited for to add 'fixes'.

@Rucku5 - I edited the title just in case :)

if your wii is pal there is no problem at all. Just put it in. If you've updated recently you won't even be asked to. Even if it does ask to update just let it. Game and Wii from same region = no harm.

Just so everyone knows, Mario Kart does not use IOS37. Therefore, if you have a PAL Wii you don't have to worry about the updates as they will not break Trucha, the homebrew stuff, or the Twilight Hack.

I have an NTSC-U Wii and the only reason I brickblocked is because I didn't want the mario kart channel since I can't use it (although I hear you can just delete it in the settings).
