Hi just to let people know i have a NTSC-U (3.2U) machine with an openwii chip.
on a Mac. Used wiigionfree to change to NTSC from PAL then burned. It asked for update which i did. I got two duplicate channels which I'm not bothered about. Mario Kart plays fine.

I have a 3.2j wii and a 1.9 wiikey, I brickblocked and regionfrii'd it but I get a black screen, any ideas ?

Sounds like a burn issue, what media/speed/software are you using?
You could try to run it with the update first but you will get dupe channels..

Apparently this game was being sold yesterday in some places in Germany - This isn't the first time some stores have jumped the gun on the release date even though they aren't supposed to and I'd bet it's happening all over Europe.
In any case I decided to install the MK Channel and try and play online. So far I can't get connected which indicates to me that maybe Nintendo haven't opened the servers yet...
If anyone else gets online before me post here plz :)
Other than that this game is great fun as you'd expect.

I'm trying to play the PAL version online with a 3.2U WII and keep getting error code 84020.
Error Code: 84020
Cause: This error is typically caused by a firewall interfering with a successful connection to the Nintendo WFC.
Not sure if I need another port open on my firewall but I can play SSBB online ok.
oh well, sure it will work in a day or so.
Anyone know how to get the gamecube controller to work on Mario Kart? I see the rumble option but that's it.

If you can connect to Nintendo WFC at all then it's not a firewall problem and opening another port will make no difference - like I said I don't think the MK servers are open yet. The error code is standard for connection problems. The solution is too general actually because there are sometimes problems with servers and they don't say this.

I'm getting the same error on my NTSC-U machine as well. It must be down to the servers not being open 24/7 yet. Could you play online with friends codes though? Niot sure if you'd still get the same error.

Attention!!
Working on NTSC wii with wii-key 1.9g!
1. Use Brick Blocker.
2. Burn.
3. Go to wii settings and do a system update
4. Put in the Cd and Enjoy
If you get an error disc msg, make sure your region free is enabled in your wii-key settings. (You can do that via ConfigDisc)

I have A ntsc wii. 3.2u with a wiikey 1.9s. region free turned on. And evertime I try it I get error code 001. unathorized device detected. Same error on 2k8 MLB and SMG. Anyone have an answer to fix that. I have tried the trucha method but I quess I dont totally understand it. Any help would be great.

MK JAP ONLY might unbrick your Wii - DO NOT USE PAL or USA!!!!

For anyone getting the 001 Error with Mario Kart...
You can get rid of the 001 error for Mario Kart by using the following PPF Patch.

I'm sure there is one for SMG somewhere (since that is a pretty big game). As for as the MLB one, I'm not so sure about that.
However, for both of those games you should be able to use the Trucha Signer to remove the 001 Error (I know you can do it with SMG at least). There are plenty of guides on how to do this, so just do a search and you should be able to figure it out (if there isn't a ppf patch).
