Do you still have the torrent? If so try extracting it again and then patch with WiiBrickBlocker and Regionfrii again. Maybe something wasn't patched right when you first did it.

well, seems a pretty reasonable thing to ask, Pal version is out way sooner than it should, if that happens to be the case with the us version as well im sure someone in the afterdawn forums would know.
PD: for any of you looking for the dif file for the japanese version, u should look in google for Mario Kart JAP dif.

Okay anyways, for those who previously had the black screen after choosing the game at disc channel, there is a solution now for it. Worked for me. Heres the link:

Dont forget to RegionFrii it if you're NTSC U. Remember, do not brickblock.

You can BrickBlock the ISO. I have NTSC(U) and allot of past posters have and it works perfectly fine. The only issue others might have is if their Wii is not updated to the latest firmware. Then maybe WiiBrickBlocking it might not work. Update Wii to latest update or game disc update. Then the Wii BrickBlock verion of MK should work.

why do some say do not use brickblocker? my works fine. 3.2U, 1.9s, brickblocked pal version.

ok i am realy confused, i have JAP wii, and have the so called scrubbed version of MK.
1, what firmware is on MK / does it unbrick semi-brick wii's, bricked by super smash bro
2, i burned the scrubbed version and when i put it in my wii it had 001 error, do i have to do somthing with the iso file first? and if so what

It's not unreasonable to encourage ppl to take advantage of easy to use information gathering systems - I hope you aren't suggesting it is? ;)
Pal isn't out way earlier than it should be actually - it's a couple of days cos stores had them in the backroom and let 'em go but I knew it was imminent and cos I googled and I was grabbing it BEFORE it was even mentioned here.
Oh and whilst I'm not particularly interested in it cos I've got the PAL version I've just googled again and the USA release date is 27th April as far as I can see ;)

Hi, I've got a U.S. Wii with 3.2U and 1.9g on my Wiikey.
I plan on waiting until I get my original copy of Mariokart on the U.S. release date of April 27th (although I now see from this thread how to get the PAL version to work). What I was wondering was whether anyone thought that my Wii with the Wiikey would have any problems playing the original disc. I ask only because I thought I recalled reading something about Wiis with a Wiikey not being able to play an original Super Mario Galaxy disc.
Anyway, probably a stupid question but if the answer was "yes there may/will be a problem," then I guess I'd be more tempted to learn how to use torrent sites and find ISO's. I've only made backups of a few originals so far (didn't want to get involved or screw up by downloading the wrong region ISO given the limited amount of time I actually play my Wii). Like many, I'm just excited by MarioKart having grown up playing past versions.

Oh, meant to ask one other question - With the online gaming aspect of Mariokart, can you actually find a specific person (i.e. a friend or family member in another city) to play online against or at least manage to find a room you can meet in?

lawtyger - Up to now all originals work with wiikey just make sure you have it updated. You can't play SSBB original unless it is at 1.9s. That's it. ...You can use friends codes to play with specific ppl in MK (or SSBB) or just play with random competitors.

JuniR, thanks for clarifying that! I've only updated to 1.9g which I understand should be sufficient for Mariokart since it is single layer. Also, great to hear you can use friends codes to play with specific people. Does the game just tell you what your specific code is and you exchange codes with your friends?

lawtyger - yeah your code is shown in game so you can write it down and give it to ppl.
DHua - You can't play online without a Mii - it's assigned to your license when you make it. I dunno how you can miss it unless you chose a guest Mii instead but why would you do that if it's your Wii?
Edit - ah yeah... I forgot I unlocked mine ages ago lol

anyone got a direct link to the 3.1J_v2 Dump file/update?
The torrent for this file has no one on it so its pointless. Perhaps someone can upload it to megaupload?!?!?
Any help guys will be greatly appreciated.
This is basically required for anyone with a Jap Wii who wants to get the PAL version of MK working.

Updating your Wii with the Jap version of SMBB should as well let MK work.

NTSC WII Firmware 3.2U
WiiKey 1.9s
Mario Kart wii (pal) Brickbloked Update removed, and
changed region to ntsc-usa
Verbatim disc used (burned at 1x speed)
played game for 3 days went online unlocked about 75% of everything
2 days ago tried to add mariokart channel
screen went to black, I waited an still nothing
powered down wii, went to turn it back on
waited for game to show up, and nothing
ejected game and it said disc unreadable
i did that for about 20 times and still same message
I tried putting in all my other games
(originals) i.e SSBB, SMG, NGC games
and still nothing, reading NO disc same message, Disc unreadable
I need your help guys, I tried doing system format
system update, but its already 3.2U
I don't know what t do and believe me I've looked everywhere and tried looking for similar cases and nothing.
Any ideas?
