PAL Wii Console

1. Updated Wii with latest update v3.2 via internet (wifi)
2. inserted Mario Kart PAL version and updated wii via game as well (according to the post pal on pal is okay)
3. I get the 001 error.

My friend burnt the game and used it on his wii, it worked fine. The only difference is that he doesnt have a wiikey he has another chip. All my other games still work, so i dont think its bricked.

I have a wiikey and have never updated it. I guess my question is if I update to 1.9s, will this fix the problem?
Or do I have to use the PPF patch?

Any alternatives or suggestions?

Cheers
try updating to 1.9s..if that does not use the patch..if the patch doesn't work..pm me and ill give you instructions on how to edit the update out with trucha.

Hi asif500us,

Thanks for your suggestions, I did update my wiikey with the 1.9s update and the game now works fine. Although I have experienced getting booted from an online game - but that may be due to other issues to do with my wifi.

Thanks again :)

Also - i cant believe there are hackers and cheaters already playing kart online! dogs!!

Hi All:
I have a quick questions. I have the Qwiif USa version of the game.
I burnt it only after first removing (patch) the update it has using WiiBrickBlocker. When I put the game in my Wii it does not work.
I have I NTSC wii, do you guys think that I should re-burn the game without removing the update, and then updateing my Wii?
Is it safe to update using the game, or there is any risk of bricking my Wii?
Thanks for your help

I was wondering what differences there are if you update the wiikey to 1.9s instead of 1.9g while playing mario kart. Please tell me what the difference is or if it doesn't effect it at all, and why some people's mario kart channels dont work with a modchip

the truth is, you can play mario kart on wiikey 1.9b even. But that would mean patching and error, or editing the error out of the disc with trucha. So instead of doing complex things, people prefer to do an easy update to 1.9g/1.9s

I'm a little confused. I have a US Wii 1.9s with NTSC Mario kart backup. When I first burned it I brickedblocked it and as soon as the game started it went dead with a black screen. I read here that all I had to do was use WUM to remove the 3.1u_v3 update and replace it with 03.1u_v2. I did this burned it, used the update ignoring the warning and MK works. But after a few minutes of play I get the error "unable to read disc". Now all my backups seem to do this all the time. Does anyone konw what I should do?

John

Another question. I've read several people asking if an update will brick their Wii and they get the answer "as long as it's the same region as yor Wii go ahead and run the update". My question is, if my Wii is US and I only use NTSC backups, do I never have to worry about bricking and never have to use brickblocker?

Hello,

I have a D2C unit with modchip, system firmware 3.0U. After reading all 13 pages of this thread (so far), I gathered that to play a backup of "Mario Kart":

1. Easiest thing is to do a system update to 3.2 via InterNet. Pop in the backup, and it should work without asking to do any other update.

2. If your Wii has system firmware version older than 3.1v3, Mario Kart will update it to 3.1v3. However this will make the game stop at a black screen, and you still have to update to 3.2.

3. If your Wii has system firmware version 3.1v2, and disable the update in the Mario Kart ISO, it will run fine.

Still, I am confused. Does this mean the system firmware update included in "Mario Kart" is a partial/incomplete update? It still needs something else (e.g. InterNet) to install a complete update (to 3.1v2 or above), before the incomplete update can go on top of it?

At this point the only version of system firmware available via InterNet is 3.2. I don't want 3.2. I know it contains IOS37, which purportedly rejects Trucha signatures. I know nothing uses IOS37 yet. I just don't want IOS37 AT ALL.

So, is it my only option to get "Super Mario Galaxy", which seems to include a full update of firmware 3.1U, and then run "Mario Kart", and let it put its partial update 3.1v3 on top of the 3.1U?

Hi.

I tried an original copy of Mario Kart Wii, made the upgrade the game asked and played a couple hours.

After I made a Backup with friidump, burn it on a Verbatim DVD+R DL using Nero.
The console didn't read it.
I thought it was a bad burn so I burned a second time, same result.
What did I made wrong ?
Backup SSBB works, Backup Mario Galaxy works.
I use a Wiikey, 1.9S, and my Wii is on 3.2.

Does somebody have an idea what I did wrong and what can I do to make a backup Mario Kart works on my Wii ?

Thanks.

Hi all, after reading all the threads, i'm a little confused.

Mine is a Wii NTSC-J 3.2J (updated via wifi), WiiKey 1.9s. I recently got a Mario Kart NTSC US but was given error code 001.

As this backup is gotten from my friend, i cant do the usual method of patching the ISO, so i'm stuck.

I read somewhere that i could d/l the PAL version, use Freeloader for jap and it will work.

Anyone can confirm this? thanks a zillion in advance... ... =)

I had this exact same problem. I was burning w/ Maxell DVD+R media. I switched to another type of media (Spin-X DVD-R) and it works fine now.

Because Mario Kart wii is NOT a dual layer game, you don't need to use friidump and old dump program will work, and you don't need, nay, SHOULDN'T burn on a DVD+R DL because that will not work.

My previous post of this question was in the wrong group. Sorry for that.
----

I have an EU PAL Wii with an unkown modchip. I have an original copy of Mario Kart. When I inserted the disc, it wanted to update my wii. This did not work however. The progress bar did not move forward.

I tried updating my Wii with my internet connection which worked just fine. I know have update 3.2E installed.

Now I tried Mario Kart again (Which is supposed to have the 3.1E_v2 update on it). It STILL wanted to run the update. This time the progress bar moved to 15% but then stopped.

Next, I downloaded a PAL copy of Mario Kart from internet and removed the update with Brick Blocker. Now i get the famous Black Screen error.

Someone suggested I try and let the Mario Kart update run for an extended amount of time to see if it would eventually finish. I let it run for 25 minutes but it did not complete. I cannot complete the Mario Kart update (why does it want to update anyway? Since I already have the 3.2E update installed) so I do not get the well known 001 error.

I would like to know what chip is in my Wii, peferrably without dismantling it. If I know what type it is, I might be able to update it. Is there any way to find out?

I'd appreciate any suggestions!
