PSP case mod like a DS

my friend has trouble with his eyes on his DS due to the small screen and his slight blindness but he likes the idea of a DS but prefers PSP games and Graphics. so i am in the process of designing a custom built DS style PSP...
i need idea's on the colour scheme and weight reduction and what could be taken out
do you think its a practical idea?
please give opinion on it... including mods as i need as much info as possible... all this is done with my friend in mind... i think the games industry should bring portable but feasible gaming to lesser abled people in society so not to discriminate but would allow them to be like any other person playing games.
my budget is pretty much unlimited.
my idea is as follows...
create a mould from a DS shell but dont mould the holes for the screens so i can custom cut a chassis for the psp screen

the rest is pretty self explanatory, but the UMD door will flip up at a slide of a switch like the PS1 but using a PSP UMD door style switch... Halo Etchings have been asked but im not to sure, he wants Halo 3 Xbox Style colouring with weapon style etchings.
PSP used will be a working Phat style PSP but willing to use a slim if necessary but might make two versions. Phat style then a Slim Style
i have a time limit of about 9 months so i should be able to do it with your ideas

this would look so kool, so im a bit confused tho, the bottom bit, is it going to be a screen with home buttons and that or just buttons like squares and stuff

If you pull this off ( which i think you totally could) you could sit yourself down next to the guy who made a "laptop XBOX 360" and the "Portable PS2" ;) Good luck!

Great idea mate. Nicely planned out. Just a suggestion, how about 2 joysticks? People like that a lot, (not sure about your friend).

Yes, i will place it where the DS slot is supposed to be or i might add a small extender in the case so i can place the slot near the volume slot is on the DS

The bottom will be a psone style UMD door... press a button and pops up at an acute angle but will be flat so the psp will be foldable like the ds

on AcidMods they created a board so it can be used for FPS style games like MOH. as they use Triangle, Square, Cross and Circle to look around so i might consider doing that
any ideas for it paint mods etc... i might even consider making custom ones for sale

make it basic, for paint, like a matt or glossy black with the psp text on top in silver. Would look awsome

i have a CNC Milling machine and laser cutter at my dads company so he can get that part done, i have a vinyl plotter so i can produce a logo on it before i use a lacquer/varnish skin for it also i have plenty of plastic spray paint as well in about 8 colours....
im so up for doing this, gimme 3-5 weeks and i should have it done
