so i thought that there might be something wrong with the xbox... however few games are still working that werent burned by me, an original game i rented worked fine and also any original or backup dvd movies i got, works just fine. When i download an image of a backup, and burn it, usually i get "Clean Disc" pretty fast.
And now when i tried to burn a game that i know works (fifa) the xbox displayed pretty fast that message, but when i put in the original disc... works fine.

I use the DL dvd burner that comes with my hp pavillion dv6000, i use clone cd and burn it on X1. Is it possible that i need to buy a diffrent usb dual-layer dvd burner?

it could be the burner but for a lot of people it is caused by using low quality media. Get some Verbatim and burn the .DVD file at 4X speed on a 6 or 8X max speed DVD+R DL disc.

Also if you are burning an ISO file that is not from an already working disc (downloaded) then you have to manually set the layer break in IMGburn before you burn the disc.

no, a backup that is already working should just be a strait copy from one disc to the other. And i would try burning at 4X instead. 1X is too slow for some drives and can give you problems.

It is true that some burners will never make a working xbox disk.

Everybody I know got themselves a pioneer-112d and the purple traxdata d/l's and solved these problems.

I bought a 100 dvd dl's and made coasters with half of them till I found out that my burner was chronically unable to burn DL discs d/t a huge failure rate. I happened upon this by reading posts of other people complaining about the same brand burner that I had(phillips). I luckily was able to update the firmware for this burner by cross updating it with the same burner but a more reliable one(benq)anyway, that was the problem, not the discs

If you use IMGBURN, go to tools and select change booktype, if you have a hp burner it should do it automatically, or you can use dvdinfopro to change the bitsetting/booktype to DVD-ROM, this should fix your problem. make sure the DVD ur using is DVD+R DL, best be Verbatim, at 2.4 speed.

I suggest just get this drive as is, don't bother with usb enclosure, it's all you really need. Even binkie7 say it's good. And it will definitely set the booktype to DVD-ROM with Liteon Bitsetting Utility. I ordered mine today and it's on the way here, I'll get it on Monday along with Verbatim 40 packs I bought on Newegg.

now that is funny... i bought a 3pack of memorex.... i burned rainbow six vegas 2... and guess what, the game works flawlessly!... i used imgburn on 2.4x.... verbatim doesnt work at all on the same configuration

so the question is... wtf?? i know memorex are bad for the xbox, but how is it possible that same exact options for verbatim and memorex are working so diffrently?
