I installed this recently it didn't work at first than I opened it up and left it open like a sandwitch with the DVD unit with the chip on the left and the base to the right. I plug it up and power it on and and put in a Super Monkey Ball Backup it works I can play the backup. The minute I put the DVD back ontop the Base and put the screw in backups stop working only orignals work. I thought it was the clip so I popped it off and popped it back on it starts working again. I put it back it together it stops playing backups. So I decide leave it open and do it again now I can pop in and out the backup a coupel of times than I decide try a different back up I get cannot read disc. I back in the Super Monkey ball back up, now it won't read. I decided to change the clip luckly I did a neat clean solder job and could remove the Solder easily to a new clip.

I redid it to a new WII Clip same problem. What could it be does anyone have this same problem?? Could it be my backups maybe I burned them to fast and they only read sometimes!! Could the DVD be putting to much pressure onto the WII CLIP or maybe its shaking something and coming loose? Could I have a bad Chip ?? Could it be a be a bad batch of clips?? I'm at loss. I have more WII CLIPS if necessary. Any help appreciated.

Update I just said forget it for now I put it together and the backups I had that were working aren't working again. I decided to burn a new backup of some Otopus game my son had onto a Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD+R with IMGBURN at 4x this works. I decided to burn soemtehing else same way this didn't work. Now sometimes orignal games say Error reading discs and I have to restart. I realy think this chip is messed up. I have another on the way from some where else I will put it on a clip and see what happens. But if anyone has anythoughts please express what could I have missed or what I can do. Thanks.

I have the same problem here. D2Ckey on wii-clip. When the case is open, original and backup all works fine. After the case is put back together, only original works. I thought it might have to do with the heat buildup, the clip not seat correctly, something shorting the clip after the case is close up. The DVD media type just can't explain why it works when the case is left opened? Any one else has similar problems? I am thinking to put some electrical type and some thin foam pad on top of the wii-clip protector card to apply some pressure on the clip so it can stay in place when the case is closed, if that is the problem. Thanks in advance for sharing your experience.

s800,

I wouldn't stick anything in there that is not needed. I have heard many horror stories about those clips.

My suggestion is to solder it in. Either using a flex cable or wires. This way, you won't have any clip issues not seating properly, cracking, shorts, etc.
