M33 is just the more up-to-date custom firmware, and so upgrading to it will allow you to play the newer games and use the newer features.
Personally, i would recommend going to 3.71 M33-4, as i use this CFW and have no problems at all with it.it is very stable and runs almost all PS1 games.

The pandora and MMS combo is used for downgrading PSP's from official firmware to custom firmware...but as you are already on 3.40 OE (custom firmware, you don't need this. The guide i linked you to in my last post will show you how to downgrade...all you have to do is sownload the files :)
