Custom Firmware and Game Sharing?

Well I have my WH40K Squad Command game loaded and trying to share it so my buddy can try it out so it finds the Ad Hoc fine and he joins me.

I accept the request and join the lobby...afterwards he's stuck at a screen saying "Receiving data from host. Please wait..." and it times out after 5 minutes and says press HOME to quit.

My question is can someone with a sony firmware play with those who have custom firmware?

I am pretty sure you can - are you sure he has selected automatic in the ad-hoc settings?

Yeah everything checks out.

The thing is that he can actually see my game and I receive his request - we even sync up but then he hangs at "Receiving Data"

Do you need a memory stick to do Gamesharing? He just told me he doesn't have one
