WiiKey installed - only read few back up. Please help
I did some searching over these past few days and havent found anyone with posts with problem similar to mine.

I checked the install and it seem fine. It is able to read original game disc but wont read (most) back up. At first i thought it was poor DVD disc (Memorex) that i was using so i went out and got some Verbatim DVD-R like some people suggested but result is intermittent.

I burned Baroque game on Memorex DVD, at first the Wii read the game and able to start it but after about 30 seconds it error out. After that it wont read the disc at all. Reburned the game on some other cheap generic DVD and it worked. I tried another game (No More Hero) on Verbatim DVD and it worked. I was able to play the game for about 30 mins. Thought i might be good to go from there, burn two more games, didnt work. I test burn a few more games but still doesnt work.

I tried to update the firmware of the WiiKey firmware to 1.9s but still doesnt work either. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

P.S all game were burned using ImgBurn at 2.4x or 4x

Stick with 4x speed unless absolutely necessary and also maybe try 8x instead of 2.4

Your burner may well be the main problem. Make sure it has the latest firmware. I have 2 burners and one definitely burns better than the other. Memorex is definitely very iffy - don't think cos your problem wasn't fully cured by switching to verbatim you can ignore that advice. ALL factors have to be right for disks to burn correctly. It is trial and error but there are some things which are standard and generally with a good burner using verbatim dvd-r @4x with imgburn would produce good disks.

when i first started burning games i had about a 50% fail rate, thought it was my discs as well (memorex also). so switched, and still had problems, ended up getting a new burner that was +DL capable, and that fixed the issue, i havent had a single fail with new burner. (All discs burned at 4x btw)

went from an AOpen DUW1616 to a Pioneer DVR-112D

Updates:

-Checked WiiKey install
-Update my Samsung DVD burner firmware to latest found on website.
-Update Wii firmware to latest (3.2u i think)
-did the POT mod (changed it from 715 to 594)
-Burned a few games at 4x with the new firmware and Verbatim and Memorex DVD (i ran out of cheap one)

Still not working. Back up games that worked before still work. I tried the new burned DVD along with all the others previously burned, result still the same.

Any else i should try?

Of the top of my head I'd say the firmware update to your existing burner hasn't done anything marvellous and you might wanna consider a new one. lano12 illustrates that solution as well.

Summat new will prolly do fine - The one that works best for me is about 18 months old and personally I'm not worry about going buying a reasonably priced one from off the shelf as long as it didn't look like the cheapest solution. They get better all the time just like everything else for the PC.

Dunno m8 - It's not just wiikey, backups in general can be a problem but I have 3 burners altogether.

1st - oldest 4/5 years is no use at all for Wii stuff.
2nd - 2/3 years old isn't bad, just get the odd error now and again.
3rd - 18 months - no problem.

All just different ones bought off the shelf. There's various bits of discussion scattered about the forums like here

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/3/471073

You just need to search them out.

Also with any burner you can find out easily what ppl have done with them in connection with Wii just like this ;)

After quite intense testing still no result.

-Downloaded a few games from the web
-Table Tennis
-SoulCalibur Legends
-No More Heroes

I tested burn those 3 games with my computer and laptop at 4x. I also used Memorex DVD-R, Verbatim DVD-R, and Sony DVD+R, here is the results:

-Table Tennis - does not work at all
-SoulCalibur Legends - work via Verbatin 4x and Sony DVD 4x(also tried to burn at 8x and still work.
-No More Heroes - Work via Verbatin 4x and Sony DVD 4x

From this it seem like it is not the media or burn speed. Possible bad WiiKey install? or bad version of the game i downloaded? I'm not sure what else to do from here. Any suggestions?

You assume that cos some games work when burnt on your laptop that the burner in your laptop is fine - it doesn't matter that you get any good burns. I've already told you I have a burner that throw out the odd error or game that won't play even though it's burned many games fine. I won't use that burner now because it's not as reliable as the newest one I have.

It's NOT a wiikey install - it is possible you have a bad copy of the game but I'd be prepared for other games not to work and even the ones you have running might have problems at some stage when you play them.
