Hey moderator's i recently had to use the pandoras battery and their where some probs, your sticky that you have now leaves out a vital part, the msinst part! so i had to make a guide for a friend and i figured i would post it, maybe you can edit in the links to the files and edit out this paragraph, did this mainly cause their is still alot of confusion round this topic, so use it dont use it, its up to you.

PANDORAS BATTERY+JIGSTICK FOR NOOBS

REQUIREMENTS
- A spare PSP Battery. Any make will do. Using a spare is best, as it
will not be possible to boot the PSP in its normal state with the
modified battery.
{{ note you can boot a psp with no battery, just with the power chord plugged in }}

- A spare Memory Stick Pro Duo of less than 4Gb. (256Mb should be
enough for all applications).

- A PSP with a Custom Firmware such as OE, M33 or WC, or a PSP with
the 1.5 original kernel.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

Easy way
---------
1) Format memory stick in psp

2) copy "mspformat.exe" to c: drive

3) in start go to and click on "run" type in cmd to get to command prompt.

4) in command prompt type in "cd.." till your command prompt only displays "c:\"

5) type in "mspformat g" {g being the drive letter of your psp NB! make sure your formatting your psp's drive letter}

6) type in "y" when prompted, now your psp's card is formatted.

7) Remove the Memory Stick and disable the USB connection after format is complete. then reconnect.(you must do this)

8) use the pandora's easy install to extract files to the root of your psp's drive letter i.e "g:\"

9) Remove the Memory Stick and disable the USB connection after installation is complete.(you must do this)

{{ Now using your modded psp set to use the !! 1.5 kernel !! }} how to set your psp kernel will be covered at bottom of page

10) Execute "battery creator" application on the PSP to modify the battery.

{{ very easy to use, i recomend backing up your eeprom, just follow on screen guide}}

11) now copy "msinst.exe" to "c:\"

12) on the mem card we are modding find the file "msipl.bin" copy it to the "c:\"

13) in cmd make sure your in "c:\" and type "msinst g c:\msipl.bin" with g being the drive letter of the psp.

14) Remove the Memory Stick and disable the USB connection after installation is complete.(you must do this)

- Congratulation, you are now in posession of a "Magic Memory Stick"
and a "JigKick Battery".

USAGE
- Insert Memory Stick into the PSP you would like to downgrade (or unbrick)
- Remove power cord and insert the JigKick Battery into the PSP. the one you are downgrading :p
- NOTE: the psp will automatically boot.
- A menu appears when the PSP boots. Follow the onscreen information

15) once your done, return the modded battery back to a normal one, i do this by having my psp plugged in to the power chord,
and with no battery turning it on. then you run the "battery creator" app again and chossing the convert battery
to normal option.

{{ WELL DONE! you now have a psp with firmware 1.5 ready to be upgraded }}

- for now i would recommend formatting the your mem card using the psp

-------------------------------------------------------
TO CHANGE YOUR PSP'S CUSTOM FIRMWARE TO THE 1.5 KERNEL
-------------------------------------------------------

1) Turn your psp off completely.

2) when turning it on hold down the "R" button on your psp

3) under settings you will find the option to change your kernel.... simple

spare is better because you can have it as backup, for those pesky bricks or for friends who want customf firmware. same with a memory stick. they're sole use would be for unbricking/putting custom firmware.

the stickies that larrylje made already has the msinst part. the installer does it for you, but some computers, mainly vista, cannot run the dos box properly.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

well spare is fine? their is no reason why it wouldn't be. but you still need 1 psp with custom firmware and 1 psp that needs upgrading, thus you have 2 psp's with 2 batteries and 2 mem cards.

you can do this to a spare mem card and battery if you wanna have like a unbricking pack type thing. but generally i think ppl do this once off to mod a particular psp.

sorry to double post, but your right, this is not compatible with vista, i have heard rumours however that a way around when using vista is to use dosbox.
but this is unconfirmed by me,
