Hi,

I have installed a Wiikey without cut legs using the wire method. Original games work fine but backups dont. I have a 2.2E Wii. I have burned GCOS Setup v1.3 padded version onto Verbatim DVD-R using Imgburn...without joy.

Keep getting the disk cannot be read error. The disks can be read on the PC and I can see the files (thought I shouldnt be able to as its an image?).

Am I doing something wrong? I have multimetered the install and all is fine. Do I need to do something before the setup disk? I can find information on installs etc, but nothing specific on the post-chip install.

Please can someone advise before I run out of Verbatims?

Thanks in advance.

You didn't say that you updated the wiikey firmware. Do that and then try running the configs if you need to. Also when you're done get the console updated to 3.2 online.

If you are confident in your install then use this thread to discuss any further problems and also to read about updating the wiikey.

If you totally unsuccessful after trying all that's advised in that thread then the wiikey is no good.

Dont i need to have the setup running first in order to update through the menu?

im sure the wiikey (original) was pre-flashed. so do i just need to burn the 1.9g iso via imgburn, insert the disk and then press reset?

is there any way to tell if the update ws successful?
