Blank DVD media not detected on HP 300i

Hi all,
I just bought a HP dvd300i burner, but it will not detect my blank dvd-r media. Ive tried to use TDK DVD-R R4.7 and Ritek Ridata G04 blank disks. The only blank disk that the drive detected so far is the DVD-RW that came with the drive.
Please help!

you are lucky if it detected the dvd-rw, since the hp dvd300i is only supposed to burn/read dvd+r/rw.
