Hi i have now managed to download my first game (mario Kart) thanks to some kind person on here helping me. I now have another question, i have heard that some games come with updates, how do i get around this without ruining my wii, have heard something about an eblocker? Do i need to take any precautions when downloading, burning or playing as i don't want any updates causing problems. I had no problem with Mario Kart i burned it at 4x on a verbatim dvd+r disc, it did ask for an update which i didn't realise i did but luckily it was fine. Am a little cautious about doing any more. Can anyone advise?
Many thanks for any help in advance.

Start off by looking at the stickied threads in the Wii section of this forum. There is allot of information out there. You just need to find it and read it. Read this Stickied thread HERE which is probably the most important information you need to know when it comes to brick/semi-bricking your Wii.

As long as you play games from the same region your Wii is, there should be no problem. If not refer to the thread about Bricking and semi-bricking.

lorna35 you dont say what region your Wii is?
If its PAL and you take an update from a PAL game you will always be OK.
Its only when you update from a different region that problems can happened.

And always keep you Wii updated from the internet.

The safest bet is to two off the Region Free capability of the modchip. Then it cannot run an out of region game, so if you download a NTSC game without knowing it cannot brick your wii as it will not be recognised in the disc channel.
