firmware flash vs modchip flash

I was wondering which was better/easier for flashing the 360 the plain firmware flash or would a modchip like blaster360 make things faster and easier as you dont have to open the case for each flash.

FW flash is going to be easier than a chip install but not necessarily better.

if i had someone install the modchip would it make things easier for me in the long run?

Upgrading would be easier, cause with flashing you would have to take apart the 360 every time you upgraded.

depends as most chips can not be upgraded at all. Plus firmware has been keeping up with the latest changes a lot quicker. And if you really felt like it you could buy a blaster 360 or Top Gear unit and you would not have to open the console to re-flash, only the first time.

Since they both do the same thing i see no reason to solder something in. For instance what if you got RROD or another problem and wanted MS to fix it? You can reverse a flash a whole lot easier then desoldering a chip.

how long does it take to flash the firmware the first time from taking apart the case to finish?
