Should I set my benq to 12X for GTA 4?

I was thinking about this, I played San Andreas today on my 360, my DVD drive was flashed to read disc at 8X, and the gameplay wasn't very smooth, texture and objects pop up out of nowhere, so I think that when I play GTA 4, should I flash it back to the normal 12X speed, I mean GTA games are heavily stream based, or is it just because San Andreas is running with 360's backward compatible emulator so that it won't run smooth? Also, Oblivion lags for me when I move to a new area and theat area is loading, but not a big deal.

12X is the stock speed, so if you don't mind the extra loudness go for it.
