Hiteck, any chance you could change the image in your Sig? The flashing one was really annoying but the Moancehster one is just taking the piss!! lol
Well done and thanks TrishG, criosdubh and whoever else succeeded.

I have a Eurovox Max (this is on the front of box). how do I decide
what software to update with i.e Max Red or Max Blue or Kuro 3 .
No way of finding out what colour box it came in. The Eurovox itself is dark grey/black in colour.
I am newbie to this type of box so sorry if this is a v. stupid question and the answer is looking at me !.
Thanks

HI, thanks to everyones help. I have gone back to Maplins and had the cable exchanged for the correct one and all worked fine.
I only made one mistake, which was to upload my channel listing- which deleted the preorgansied favourites- so i am rescanning again and i will manually arrange the EPG listing to suit my likes.
Once i have the listing the way i like i will save a copy on my computer.

I can set up a nun modem on com1, but afer that no diffrence neither the update or any other versions will allow me to download my channel listing off the box, or upload the latst firmware.
I dont want to irritate people with what is probably piss-easy to expierenced eurovox owners so i will carry on punching in codes manually until is doesnt work and the sling it in the loft lol!
What happens when you try to download the update? Do you get any error message at all?
The NULL MODEM cable could be the problem, especially if it is not really a NULL MODEM CABLE!!
Update: I just googled that part number you quoted and it would appear to be a regular serial cable and NOT a null modem, so now you know what your problem is.
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=L68BT&DOY=5m4 is what you have.
This is what you need: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Modu...oy=17m4

Make sure you have the correct NULL MODEM cable and adaptor check 1st page
1. Right click on "My Computer"
2. Select "Properties"
3. Click on the "Hardware" tab
4. Click on "Device Manager"
5. Click the + sign next to "Ports (COM & LPT)"
6. One of the listed ports should indicate which port your USB adapter is connected to (e.g. COM1, COM2, COM3, etc.)
7. Go back to your map software program that you use to transfer data and make sure it is looking at the correct port.
8. You should be able to transfer data once the correct port is selected
take your time

Thanks for that Karljd!
Also if you follow malci steps to asign the ports correctly you will be ready to go, Providing you have bought a NULL modem cable.!

Thanks for that, are you sure you have the correct symbol rate 6.887 or 6.952 ?
Yeah, sorted out the symbol rate and restored factory settings, worked a treat, it was such a rush of euphoria when I saw the picture come up first as I was at it for a whole day the day before.
I know its been said before but can I just emphasise that its a Null Modem Cable needed and not an RS323, they both look the exact same but there is a difference. Just posting this as I spent a day pulling my hair out wondering what was wrong when I was using the wrong cable all along. You lads are legends, keep up the good work!

Thanks for your help
I have the same setup on my Laptop as trishg & I can't change configuration in Device Manager. It only lists USB controllers & doesn't show anything for COM ports. I've purchased a USB adapter for my null modem cable but can't get it to work. I see trishg got it sorted, Any help or tips greatefully received. Cheers
