Okay, let me start off by saying that I had gotten my PSP modified with the current custom firmware, and that I had gone through the process outlined in the guide here, including using the Datel TOOL Battery, since I didn't have a custom firmware PSP to use:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/610313

Now, to the problem that I am facing. When I was in the middle of trying to transfer Crisis Core over to the PSP over Windows Vista (32-bit Ultimate Edition), the transfer was not going anywhere and then it froze when I tried to click on it. I was forced to restart my computer because no matter what I did, it did not continue, nor did it close.

When I opened it again, there was a problem with the files on the PSP, all of them showing strange symbols. Windows asked if it could repair the drive, which I allowed it to (which is probably a big reason why I'm having this problem).

Now, there's nothing on my PSP, even when I try to format it. When I open it through USB, there's nothing there. Not one folder. I've tried to go through the process of once again putting custom firmware on my PSP, but now it's saying there's an I/O error whenever I try to transfer the files over. Not that that would matter much, considering that I'm missing the files on the PSP.

Strangely enough, the M33 VSH MENU still shows up when I press Select on the PSP.

Can anyone help me, or did I just screw up my PSP, and thus forgo the ability to modify it?

I spent a lot of money on both the PSP and the 4gb stick, and I'd rather get this fixed. I can't return the PSP, nor the stick, considering I got it off eBay...

Please help.

Forgot to mention that there seems to be rather extreme slowdown most of the time on my PSP. It takes a while to get from place to place, and to select things. I usually have to find something to do until the PSP goes into USB Mode.

Hey AMReese, Ya might wanna change the thread title, If binkie7 catches it, it's gonna be shutdown my good man....also watch the back to back posts (Binkie7 also set me straight on that one too, hehehehe!) ok now down to brass tax, uhh I see you talkin' bout using vista to transfer files, I'm sure it can be done but alot of people that I've talked to have a hard time getting files to transfer in vista...I know...it sucks! Also repairing the drive was probably not a good idea either....the reason your M33 VSH Menu shows up is because thats not on the memory stick, but rather on your PSP's internal memory (There's 32mb in a phat and 64mb in a slim, if remember correctly) if it was me....I'd try reformating the memory stick via the PSP or you could try re-creating the magic memory stick and just starting over....sorry cant be of more help, good luck! (There is, see....I did it!)

Well, if there was a way to edit posts, then I wouldn't need to post back-to-back in order to correct myself. Anyways, I've tried restarting over and over the Magic Memory Stick several times, both on a Vista and an XP machine. I've formatted my PSP through the system itself, the Easy Installer, and by right-clicking on the drive itself. Strangely enough, it says there's like less than 1mb on the drive, or something, and then it says that it cannot format the drive.

Hey AMReese, there is way to edit yer posts(Check out my last post, look at the bottom), next to "link to this message" (To the right) there is an icon, give it a click and you can re-type/add/delete anything ya want (Good way to catch typos, if you worry bout that kinda thing...) but....man.... you got a real problem dude!....well ya got an XP machine which is good, use that from now on until the vista thing gets fixed...umm...hmmm?? Try posting in here man: http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/ I'd hate to send ya off to somewhere else but there are some extremley bright people in there man (I'm kind of a noob myself) I know someone there would be able to help ya out(Look for Osnap1584, Robs1968, 40_Ounce, they are gods on the PSP Modding scene) plus you get a response very fast. the people to talk to here at afterdawn in my opinion are "Ex_Hoc", "mrgooey" & "Wasted_420" (Also very strong in the ways of PSP Modding) The people I mentioned are gods, I'm not even close man, I can sorta help out but I'll get there...and you will too!

@AMResse-

A couple of things you may want to look into...

First, go into the 'system settings' menu on your psp and verify the version of custom firmware you are running-Like you mentioned earlier you said when you press SELECT it brings up the VSH menu, Thats a good sign-That means you are running 3.71M33 or better.

As far as your lag in the psp menu, press the SELECT button to bring up the VSH menu and make sure the settings for both the UMD/ISO and the XMB are set to 'default' (change the options by pressing either left or right on the D-pad) -You may have inadvertently changed the settings in the menu.

Regarding the I/O error you are getting and the lack of folders on your memory stick after formatting via the psp, as well as the fact you got your memory stick from eBay indicates to me that you have a fake memory stick. That is a common flaw in memory sticks that are not genuine.
You can double check by navigating to one of the memory stick icons under PHOTO, MUSIC, VIDEO, or GAME in the psp's menu and press the triangle button to bring up the 'information' sidebar-press X to select it and you will be presented with the status of your memory stick (Size of memory stick, free space, and MagicGate status)-If it reads 'Unknown', 'Unsupported', or is just blank after MagicGate, you have a fake, and that is what is causing your transfer problem. (I use Vista and XP, and have yet to have issues tranferring games, etc)

You cannot format the psp as the firmware is written to the internal flash-not the memory stick itself. If you see the menu when you power on the psp, that is a good thing. If your psp was really messed up (or bricked) you would not even see the menu, just the green power light would come on for about 20 seconds and shut off.
