Enter the code in the PSN> Account Mangement, under transaction Management, then Promo and PSN Card(?), it then gives you the download. You can install it and get to the start page but cant login to the server yet.

I do not see why people are getting pee'd off about this, this is a beta - it is exactly this that a beta is supposed to do, finding problems and sorting them until the live realease - I am betting that the problems on with the servers are a good thing for konami as this will allow them to iron out these issues. People need to remember that this beta is costing them nothing and konami have no obligation to anyone until the real release happens - just my 2 euros!

people all over the net are saying how stupid Konami is and dont get the idea of a beta. Its to test and fix problems.
I knew this would happen, and im glad it did before the official release.
It is dissapointing for us all, but I suppose thats the way it is, we still should be playing it before the end of the week hopefully.
After all the trouble this beta's had, imagine what it would have been like online with all the lag of the old servers?
At least when its up a running again it will probably run better than what it would have.
I think it said that there will be an annoucement tomorrow morning on the MGO Site. Oh yeah and I think that the extended beta is only in Japan, unless something is said tomorrow.
So until then.
See ya later

We would like to thank all players for their keen interest in taking part in the beta test.
However, we regret to inform you that due to extraordinary levels of traffic from all around the globe, we have been unable to run the service to the level we expected.
As a temporary measure, we will be deferring the start of the US public beta test until we are able to stabilize our server.
We would like to apologize for all inconveniences as well as confusion caused.

We would like to add that due to the above reasons, we will be making the following changes to the schedule:
1) Starting date: TBA. We will be making another announcement on 22/4/2008 23:00(PDT)
2) Beta Test closure: This will now be on 11/05/2008 at 24:00(PDT) rather than 06/05/2008 at 24:00(PDT)

IMPORTANT: Please note that your voucher code will only be valid up until 05/06/2008, so please make sure to register them by then.

I agree 100%, this is the entire point of the beta and people are freaking out because its not going perfectly, every game has this problem with the online from the start it was a smart move on their part to do a semi-public beta to work the kinks out before their release.

@ canuckrz

thats not true at all. From what i've heard about the halo 3 beta test run it went surprisingly VERY smoothly. I don't think I need to point out that Halo 3 is about 10x the magnitude of MGO is in terms of community size either.

Ah but Halo 3 had already had 2 generations of online behind it, especially since they haven't changed the online setup much more than new maps and weapons; not to mention M$ has a lot more infrastructure backing them than Konami would.

6. No foul language, insults, personal attacks or otherwise rude messages.

8. Don't reply with an off-topic comment/question

10. Don't post your email address to the forums! Spambots love dumb forum users who post their email addresses to public sites and grab those addresses and you will soon discover the wonders of penis enlargement kits and other really useful products posted daily to your inbox.

Quite a tally for your few posts in this thread. Toys put back in pram and enjoy your vacation. While you are away perhaps you should review the rules of the site.

Canuckrz,

Not trying to argue, but I am going to spit some more facts out there for you. This is their second go around at MGO, the first came packaged with the re-released version of MGS 3, and a lot of people played it.

Konami recently took the original MGO offline for this game anticipating the amount of traffic their servers were going to get.

Konami knew this was going to happen and should have had enough experience to make this not an issue.

Unfortunately... they didn't.

I have mixed feelings about Konami. First comes the many delays in MGS4. One delay was announced two weeks before the March release. Now they announce a beta we can't play. I understand what beta means and this is not my first time beta testing something, but I do wonder if the people at Konami think. They gave everyone an invitation in Europe, and everyone in Japan and US an invite for preordering the game. They knew how many people that were going to be connecting for weeks and don't want to do Sh!+ until the last minute.

UPDATE: The Metal Gear Online beta will resume on Friday 25th April at midnight (PDT) and close on the 11th May. They do also note, however that this date "may change due to unforseen circumstances".
Hopefully server issues and such should be fixed and we should be able to log into the beta at the actual time rather than...never.

all the other sites that ive seen where they have talked about GTA 4 most people are saying screw it until the beta is over. me...it's going to depend on what I like better. Who knows if the beta will ever come out though...

so far konami is 0/10

I'm well aware of the mgs3 version of mgo, as I was one of the few who played it while it was online. It was essentially testing the theory of the larger mgo that was to come with mgs4. Also the original mgo was somewhat of a small secret, not many people knew about it back when it was still online. And it has been offline for over a year now.

BTW, the most I had ever seen on the original mgo at one time was 1600, but there was usually only around 700 online on the best of days.

UPDATE: While still no official announcement, it looks as though the Mk. II themed Metal Gear Solid Limited Edition PS3 Bluetooth Headset is now available for pre-order at the UK's biggest retailer, GAME.
It is retailing at £39.99 which is a little pricey for a headset, but there are no specific details on what you actually get, so you might be getting something extra (I'll update u guys). Either way, surely every fan is going to want one of these! I sure do want one they look pretty kool if someone doesn't know wat it looks like look it up
