When looking around differnt websites that they rant and rave about verbitam media. however if you ask people at the computer fairs and pro modchippers they dont. the advice i was given off about 20 differnt sources was the following

wii
ritek gold top -r
for super smash aone media.

xbox 360
360 media (designed specailly for the xbox and xbox 360)

and in all cases burn the games using image burn. the drives used to burn your discs should always be pioneer without exception. i have followed these rules and i can honstley say i have never had any problem what so ever burning working backups.this of course gos for ssb aswell. so before blaming your modchip or the lens on your wii it may be worth taking a look at your hardware and media. i am well aware of other forms of media that is reported however this seems to be the most consistant method with no hassles so far anyway. by the way if you insist on using verbitam staples is the best place 100 -r discs are only £20.00

As you said verbitam disks are not expensive anymore. I only use them now beacuse my laser went on my Playstaion 2 from using cheap Ritek dvd media. The Laser finds it harder to read and over time the Laser burns out or going out of line. My Playstaion2 will only play about 30% of backups now(depends on how much disk access is required).

My advise is to use verbitam for everything... Its not worth it, just to save a few pennys on DVD Media.

PS. i always Burn at 4x with 16 speed media using Imgburn

There are plenty of decent burners that will handle all sorts aside from Pioneer.

Generally TYG03 (Taiyo Yudens and Verbatim) have a greater compatability across a wider range of burners than the media you promote. That is why they are more recommended.

I use Aones for DL and they burn in my pioneer yes but my other 2 burners won't even touch them. Guess what? They will take Verbatim DL.

You can't generalise about the best media based on the burner you have - You can't advise anyone who doesn't have the same burner because what you say takes absolutely no account of the fact that ppl don't wanna go splash out on new burners when they can easily solve their problem using more compatible media especially when the difference in price for 100 Verbs over 100 riteks isn't as much as the cost of a new burner. It's not even worth worrying about. There aren't even 50 Wii games worth having on backup right now so it's not exactly gonna skint ppl.

Hi there,

I am using just a laptop with a pioneer burner using verbatim dvd-r at 2x (probably could do faster but prefer to be safe than sorry) and nero burning rom.

Have backed up my collection of about 20 discs and not one coaster.
