should be able to just use the make iexteme 1.4 fw batch file, and flash over the 1.2, and trust me, you dont 2x o4 5x. your games will play like crap considering the stock speed is 12x. the slowest you should go is 8x.
I have flashed several consoles for friends on 5x and they have no complaints with speed or performance of console, games
5x on BenQ, Samsung and Hitachi they are so quiet it?s like they have not been flashed
This Hitachi drive on 12x is so loud I have to turn TV on to about 25+ to hear games
Couldn?t hear a film.
That is why I want rom to run slower due to noise
im going to say yes, but i flashed a friends hitachi with 1.2 and its not loud at all, and i have my benq flashed with 12x and its quieter than a stock drive.
Either set it to 8x or 12X. The sound you're hearing is the motor inside the drive spinning the dvd. Same drive, same motor. if it bothers you that much, get another dvd drive and flash it with your firmware.
Thanks for your reply's
I have both my 360?s firmware flashed
The newest console HDMI falcon chip has IX 1.41; BenQ drive is great on 12x no change in noise.
This other 360 with the Hitachi drive with older F/W is like a Cessna.
I know the Hitachi drives are louder than the BenQ
That?s why I wondered if IX was better than older F/W
May be ill try it on 12x first
I could always try 5x later if it?s noisy
FFS don't put it on 2x. I mistook that section of the flashing to mean at what speed will your backups be burned at, I didn't think it'd actually change how fast the drive reads. Now games take FOREVER to load, sometimes 2 minutes. And some cut scenes are really choppy because stuff is still being loaded during these scenes and thus everything gets slowed down. In game everything works flawlessly, but the load times and occasionally messed up CS aren't worth it in my opinion.
Yes thanks for that
i would go as low as 5x
but me thinks i will try the 12x first
all i want is a quiet drive and as some one said by a new drive
not an Hitachi drive
i am hoping its the F/W
I Flashed the Hitachi drive on ix 1.4_12x speed and it?s very quiet
I had to use 360 Firmware Toolbox ver 4.6 as the Hitachi drive was a 78FK.
Because 360 had a previous flash I connected to pc
I opened DVD tray, placed a DVD film in tray and turned the 360 power off on wall socket, booted pc and Xbox together closed tray and 360 was in modeb.
Windows detected and DVD was visible in my computer drive letter (F)
Open 360 F/W toolbox and reinstalled original. Bin from a previous flash.
I then followed the tutorial in the 360 T/B to continue the Flash with the updated ix 1.4_ 12x speed firmware included in toolbox.
simple
Xbox 360 Drive so quite now on 12x speed, so I think older firmware may allow the drive to produce more noise. I can?t hear drive at all now, just a slight whirl when game is spinning at full speed, it?s 100% better.
