I'm about to buy a Wii in the next week and I'm between buying an NTSC version or the PAL version.
There is a price difference of about 1/3 between the NTSC version and PAL version.
The USA console is cheaper by 1/3 of the EU version.
I have a friend in US that is coming to visit soon so I can ask him to bring me one.

Now I don't plan in installing a mod-chip on the console because I don't want to damage it, or brick it by accident or void the warranty.(I know how to avoid the bricking but, someone might try to play a different region game on it when i m not around and update it without knowing the risk)

Most probably I will be buying authentic local PAL games or NTSC from ebay or amazon or any site on the internet using freeloader.

I would really appreciate your opinion on whether I should go for a 1/3 price drop or stay with PAL version of the console + 2 years of guarantee. The price difference is $135.

I would also like your opinion on the freeloader disks. I know they can only play authentic disk games. I know its a little hassle to change the disks but I'm also wondering how safe is it in regards with bricking the console by playing and updating using a different region game.
If the risk is the same as modding and it will void my warranty, then I might consider moding a US console since it will be cheaper and I won'e have any warranty on that one either.

It doesn't really matter about how much cheaper it is. It's not worth the hassle of having to buy all your games online and also putting your faith in freeloader working long term. If Nintendo bring out an update which disables FL then what will you do? There's no real economy in buying a US console if you ask me and also you talk about warranties and stuff - what's the point of buying from the states if you are worried about warranties? It's gonna cost you a decent amount to send it back if it packs in for whatever reason.
