Where is the xbox live gold membership get registered to??... does it register to your console and gamertag or just gamertag?...

Scenario:

If I went to my buddy's place and accessed my gamertag would I be able to play live?

its registered to the gamer tag. to play it a friends house, you can recover the GT but then he can also play it after you leave.

So its not registered to the console?... that sucks... Unfortunately someone (hacker) was able to access my windows id live account and able to recover my GT to their console... can I still recover my GT... and how can I prevent this from happening again?

assuming he hasnt changed the password or anything, just re-recover it. and then change your password for it, or make it so you have to have a password to actually sign in on the console.

I tried to recover it but Xbox live indicated that its an invalid GT

Just an update:

I was able to talk to the customer rep in xbox live and they were unable to do anything about it cause the hacker replaced my windows live id info and changed my gamertag, unfortunately they based everything in their database... So at the end I lost my 12 month subscription of live... 1000 microsoft points and gamerscore of 10,000.. and didn't get any credits

I asked the customer rep if there's any reassurance that this isn't going to happen and he told me that xbox live cant do anything about it; to think we're paying for their service!!!

according to the xbox live rep they would be able to give me some credit if I used my credit card to be able to verify... but do you think I would still use my credit card knowing their security issue?... dont think so
