Australian 60GB won't read blu ray discs

hi i have an australian PAL 60gb ps3 and tonight while playing GH3 it froze therefore turned it off and when tried to load the game again it would not load, however when inserted a ps2 game it worked. tried another ps3 game and did not work...waited for like 10min then the blu ray worked

did it overheat?
