Just modded my 360. I did read the How To Burn XBox360 Games thread. My question is if there is no read me that tells you what kind of game you have, how do I know if it's a straight rip, pre-patched, or not patched?

Thank you.

use xdvdmulleter to check whether or not the file is straight rip/ patached.

if it isn't youll have to patc the file yourself - look at the how to burns game guide for more information on patching games.

most games that are downloaded from net are pre-patched.

Thank you. One more question, whats the best media to use to burn your games on? I just bought 50 generic branded DL discs and my 360 don't like them.

There's your first mistake.

You have to use Verbatim DL DVD+R discs. anything else and you will get coasters

why tell a bold face lie on here??? there are PLENTY of people using discs other than verbs that work juts fine. verbs are recommended, but are not THE ONLY ones you can use.

as long as you use the samsung drives with kreon on them, you dont need to do any extra work, but if your using the winxripper method, then you will have to patch them.

You mean WX ripper
wx ripper is software tools to dump Xbox 360 discs with a PC DVD-drive using an hot-swap method (means you'll have to open your drive

Kreon 1.00
this Is the firmware you would flash your Samsung SH-D162C SH-D163B drive with.
This flash will allow your Samsung drive to read your Xbox 1 and xbox360 games and rip them to your HDD, using software

You can get these sumsung drives on eBay ready flashed, cheap as chips

Just to confirm......

With WX ripper I put the game in my PC, dump to HD, then put on disc?

With Kreon 1.00, am I ripping to PC or 360 HD?

As far as I know you can't yet rip to 360 HD.

So if WX ripper and a samsung drive with Kreon 1.00 both do the same thing, rip games to PC HD, what benefit do I gain by buying a samsung drive?

Did you read any of the above?
A Sammy with Kreon F/W lets you rip an Xbox or Xbox 360 disc to your pc's hard drive using the correct software.
wx ripper is an older method you have to take your existing DVD drive apart and hot- swap discs

Xbox Backup Creator 2.8 or Schtrom360Xtract v3.4
the above software rips and checks your games are stealth
you could always use XDVD Mulleter as well
