I Wanna Flash My 360 Drive, Looking for advice

Okay hello everyone here at 360 section of afterdawn, I'm not new to to the whole modding scene I have modded my PS2,PSP and Xbox and gamecube. The thing is I wanna get that afterdawn love on help with modding my 360. After long hard thoughts about should I do it or not and reading many diffrent views on flashing, THE GOOD AND BAD. I know flashing may cause you to get banned on Xbox live but hell I never really play on live. I'm to cheap to buy xbox live points so screw the downloadable content. I just like drinking a beer having some friends over and playing my 360. Well after that kinda long and offtopic rant I have some question and info for you guys.
1) According to that drive pic I have a Toshia Samsug drive, My info on it is this Date 08-02-2006, Bought it at Walmat came with a copy of Burnout Revenge inside the box NTSC format and HDMI spot. My question is what drive do I have?
2) What's the best blank media to get? I know I'm a big fan of Maxell DVD-R they never gave me problems with backing up my PS2 games.
3) What do I need to flash my drive?
4) How hard is it to take the xbox apart and putting it back together scale 1-10 10 being the hardest?
5) Is there anyone in the Alton IL area willing to help flash? If not that's cool I can do it with the tuts.

Update I have taken the ends of the 360 off and front clamps or unhooked but stuck on the back clamps. I can't get the f'n shell off worth crap. It's really pissing me off, Does anyone have tips or tricks to get the back part clamps unhooked?

yea, its called looking at the tutorials or using google, there are many detailed guides, and videos out there that show how to take the shell off.

Thanks again for the info and all but I am using the tuts on taking the shell of I have used 3 diffrent video tuts and a writing one but I still can't get the case off.

You're stuck on the back of the case? Whatever tool you're using to insert in the holes, you have to push really hard. To the point where you think you may break something. And when the tabs pop loose, it'll sound like they broke. But that's normal and they won't break.

Update finally got the case off and now using an star screwdriver to get drive out. bhetrick Thanks for that info man I was not pushing hard enough, by the way you have the best xbl gamertag out there I wish I thought of it and I love your info you've been posting.

how you flash your xbox 360 is ultimately dependent on what type of DVD Drive is in it.
for the most part as long as you don't have the dreaded hitachi 79, you're good to go.

Slim my drive is not hatachi, is a toshiba or samsug. My console was made 08-02-2006.

Beside it being rude to hijack a thread, use all caps, and use red, what do you need help with? You didn't ask anything. All you said it that you use a 111d to burn with.
But don't answer here... first, use the search box to try and help yourself before you ask others to help you. Then, if you can't find an answer, start a new thread and we'll try and give you a hand.

Basically the answer is YES - all you had to do is make sure the burner is dual layer which just about all are.

Update: I have finally got to the drive in my Xbox 360, I have come across that my Drive is Toshibia/Samsug ms28. I will keep people updated til I have finally flashed and played my first back up.

I did the f'n research fo you. This is your answer, Yes b/c it has daul layer burning. Below is the feature info for the burner.

Some people make the honest mistake of posting questions in a thread which are in no way related to the topic. Everyone's done it at one point or another. But they get corrected and move on.
But obviously witit is one of the few members who simply has no respect for others, as he would want for himself. His type are the ones who want spoon fed information and never help others. So it'll be no loss once he's banned.
Anyhow, back on topic, Raven how far are you along with flashing? Is all going well?
