I've been deciding between Gentoo, ubuntu, and yellow dog. I've played a little with ubuntu so im aware of how hard it is to get the wireless working on it so im wondering would be as difficult on the ps3? same thing with gentoo and YDL.

I have YDL 5.1 on my ps3 and it is working great. It detected my wireless connection and the ps3's wireless card. No problems. There is a bug with ubuntu in which you have to create your own partition tables or the setup will freeze. Never tried gentoo.

Yeah I'd go with YDL since its made for the PS3, plus ydl 6.0 just came out a month or 2 ago.

YDL 6 iso image has not yet been released through the mirrors. I cant find it. I am also unsure how to upgrade from YDL 5.1 to 6.

YDL is going to be better than ubuntu or gentoo. Ubuntu gets more common updates though. Once every 6 months.
