I have a floor model hdtv (im sure its a 1080p resolution) I got a few years back and it lacks an hdmi port. I was pondering on how i can get hd for my ps3 with that kind of tv. I was thinking that i needed this.

Am i right?

A TV that old I seriously don't believe that it has 1080p. For HD use component cables. The set you posted is fine. You are going to run into a problem with HDCP. DVDs will not upscale and blurays will not play without HDMI.

If it aint got a hdmi port then its not a HD TV cant see how it can be. Go into your settings and see if there is any option for HDMI input of a 1080 res option. Think you onto a loser there m8. :(

It says its hd on the front and in the book. So, is the cable in my first post the one i need? Do you think the componet av cable is better than s-video (im using a s-video connection now)? I do have a hdmi port on my tv in the living room and the thing is huge, but im too afraid of screwing it up. (shadows, burn marks, i paid to much money for that damn thing to screw it up)

That dosen't always work, my 20" LG screen gets detected as 1080P but its only 720P.

it doesnt need an HDMI port to be HD, HDMI is just digital his probably has component wich sum one said (analog HD) , and a question does it say HD or does it say "HDTV" .

It says in the book and on the front panel, HDTV. Why? Is that a problem?

Does your tv have a dvi input. if you do not know what that plug looks like do a google search for it. dvi and hdmi are the only for a 1080p hookup. bluray movies will play w/o a hdmi cord just not in 1080p but in their native resolution. component cables (the red, blue, and green) can produce 480i/p, 720i/p and 1080i. if your tv has a dvi input they make a cord that goes from dvi to hdmi. if that is what you need buy them from the internet for about 10.00 and less. DO NO BUY THEM FROM A RETAIL STORE!!!! Super markup for the same quality. Do a search here and you will find your answer.
