sounds like the card is corrupt, back up all your saves/game files,. and format the card, put back the firmware/saves/games and see if it works.

ummmm its been a while since i own the ds firecard, i will try to remember. (umm yours is a ds firecard right? not a ds linker which i know nothing about)
first of all, see if u can download the system file here unpack the files and u will get 2 files, xmenu.dat and fire_eng_1_45.nds
when u have these 2 files, now u can format your firecard. (save any files u want to keep by copying it to your pc.
To Format, hold down SELECT+START when turning DS on
u will get three options:
CANCEL = cancelled, do not be formatted
QUICK FORMAT = rapid format
FULL FORMAT = fully formatted
select full format.
important >>> let it finished formating before u do anything else.
now connect everything to the PC :
(just incase u dont know)
-firecard into DS slot 1
-adapter in DS slot 2
-USB cable from adapter to USB port on PC
-turn on DS
-option should apear saying 'usb mode' or 'game mode'
-select USB mode
-listen for sound as your PC recognises the firecard.
-firecard is now a removable drive in 'my computer'.
copy the xmenu.dat and fire_eng_1_45.nds onto the ds firecard root directory.
add some games and u r good to go. ;)
let us know how u get on.

Do as marydoll suggests & your card will be ok.
.
a 'full format' will take 30 minutes to 1 hour, so be patient.
a 'quick format' might do the job just as well.
.
do you know how to 'unpack'(unzip) the files after you download them?
[if you have the XMENU already saved on your PC you probabaly wont need to download it again]

hi katie
to unpack or unzip, u will need either a winzip or winrar or download a free 7z here.
root directory is the first area on the firecard you can copy the system files onto. ie dont make any folders.

download the file mary said. maybe to your desktop or somewhere you'll find it easily.
.
double click it.
.winrar will open. it will show you a list of items.
highlight the thing you want to unzip(1 click).
then, near the top you'll see a button that says 'extract to'...click that.
another wee window will open up giving a list of places to 'extract' it to.
choose 'desktop'(so you'll find it easily)
double click 'desktop' , then click OK.
the unzipped file will appear on your desktop.
...thats it really.
.
.
the root directory is easier to find than it seems.
connect the firecard to the PC...go to 'my computer'....see the new removable drive(firecard)....double click it.....when it opens up, thats you in the root directory.
to get the unzipped file there....<right click> on the unzipped file(menu will pop up)....click 'send to'....click 'removable drive X'.

let me understand this, u copy a game onto the firecard but when u boot up the ds, the game is not showing?
if so, then i can think of one possible reason. the game u copied is not in the correct format. ie 'game.nds' all ds games have a .nds file extension.

No need to copy to disc.
as usual, listen to mary & you'll be ok.
.i'll go over some other things you will need to know for the future.
.
before that...did you unzip the game using winrar?
.do it the same way you unzipped that file last time.
.
Double ckick the file and winrar will open up.
...1...depending on where you got the game from, there might be a folder in the zip file.....unzip that to the desktop, of somewhere else.
go into this folder....you may see 1 or more other zip files...
highlight them all by pressing the <CTRL> button on your keyboard and clicking on all the zip files till they are all highlighted.
...right click on one of them now>>>>>>menu opens>>>>>click 'open with'>>>>>>select 'winrar'.
select destination>>>>>>the files will unzip.
.
...2...sometimes there is not a folder inside the zip file....instead there is a list of files....
...the game file will be the 'largest' file in the bunch (winrar will tell you the sizes of all the files)
again, it will say XXXXX.nds.
thats the one you want to highlight & unzip.
.
hey presto....new game.
eventually you will want to create a folder somewhere on your PC to put all this stuff neatly & not clutter up your desktop with it.
.
other stuff to know.
the XMENU mary told you to download yesterday...put that in a folder in your 'my documents' or somewhere you will find it easily, coz your firecard will probabaly corrupt again in a month or two, & you'll need it again then.
.
save your .SAV files from your firecard into a folder somewhere on your PC every few weeks so-as not to lose your progress in your games.
theres nothing worse than unlocking every track & extra character in mario kart, then discover that your card has corrupted & you've lost all your progress.
so be wise & do that too.
.
sorry if my ramblings are hard to understand. im not the best at compiling a post....probabaly coz of the scottish accent. you might have to read it 10 times.
.
any more problems, theres always someone here to help.

your right...im sick listening, & im going back to bed..
.
.only kidding, doll. it's no trouble at all...we'll get you sorted. eventually:)
if its a nintendo DS game, it should end in '.nds'.
you will see this when you double ckick the zip file & winrar opens up.
.
in fact...go check your private messages....im about to send you one.

i am guessing here, maybe your 'My Computer' is not showing the file extension? ie filename.nds
if so, u need to goto 'Tools' > 'Folder Options' > click on tab 'View' > and uncheck 'Hide extensions for known file types'

hi phat1
i think the F Card is an updated version of the firecard. (not sure though) but without the slot 2 usb connection bit.
all the ds flash cart. is very similar, ie they all have a system files/os/firmware. your cart should have it already installed. if not, goto manufacturer website for download. (its in chinese, so u need google translate).
just add your game roms (game.nds) to the card, plug it in ds and select your game and plays.

Phat1.
dont try to open the xmenu on the PC..it doesnt work that way, old chap.
so-far you have plugged the F-card into the USB port(the F-card is the one with the little blue card-reader, right?)
plug it in....hear the PC go 'bee-boop'...F-card is now 'removable drive X'...
the XMENU is already in the F-card?
theres nothing more you need to do.
'safely remove hardware'...plug into DS. turn on.
it will create the system folder when you do this.
you will see an empty menu on screen, with a wee bear down the bottom.
that means everything is in order.
turn off DS....plug F-card into PC....send games to 'removable drive'
.& thats it...'safely remove hardware', plug into DS...turn on...play games.
.
1 more thing...back-up the xmenu.dat file to your PC...in a month or so you'll be glad you did.
