The only big difference between v2 and v1 is that version 2 allows you to install multiple wads at once while version 1 was limited to just one.

As for installing them, I believe you just put the wad installer elf file in the root of your SD card along with a folder called "wad". Then put the wad files in that folder. Load up the twilight hack and they will install.

Here is a quick step by step guide for installing wad files on your Wii. First off you will need:
1- Wii console
2- Remote and nunchuck
3- Copy of zela twilight princess, I don't know if a backup will work but it should
4- An sd card at least 32mb
5- TP hack save file
6- Wad installer v2
7- Wad files you want to install

First you can get the tp hack here:

http://wiibrew.org/index.php?title=Twilight_Hack

The wad installer can be found by searching around, I'm pretty sure it's illegal so I won't link to it right now.

Steps:
1- If you want to keep your old zelda save, copy it to your sd card now and copy it to your pc or use a second sd card for the hack. This will delete your old save.
2- Prepare your sd card to use the tp hack as found on the site above, make sure your sd card is fat not fat32 formatted. (note E= USA in this case, not Europe, I think P= Europe and J= Japan)
3- Create a directory in the root of the sd card called wad. Your file structure should have 2 folders in root: private and wad.
4- Copy the wad loader elf file (there's a dol and an elf, ignore the dol) to the root of the sd card and rename it to boot.elf.
5- Copy the wads you want to install to the wad directory (don't ask where to download them, they aren't legal to distribute).
6- Eject the sd card from your computer by right clicking on the drive in explorer and click eject (can cause problems if you don't do this). This is for windows only, if you are on linux or mac just right click the sd card on your desktop and click eject.
7- Remove sd card and insert into the wii.
8- Turn on the wii, go to data settings, wii console, find your tp save and delete it. If you never played tp before create a save in the game (the wii needs to have the save on there at some point) and go back to the menu and delete it. Go to the sd card and copy the tp hack save to the wii.
9- Load zelda tp and you will see the the hacked save file. When you load the save you will see a man in front of you. Either talk to him or just turn around and run backwards, either way activates the hack.
10- The screen will go black and will tell you to press reset to start the installer. Do it!
11- If all goes well it will say what it's copying, if you get a bunch of hex values and the words "CODE DUMP" then there was an error and you will need to try copying the files again or try another sd card. I got this error repeatedly until I ejected the sd card properly. Don't skip that step!
12- When its done it will say press reset to reboot the wii. Do it!
13- Your new channel should be accessable from the menu. It can be removed the same way as any other channel, copied, etc.
14- Enjoy!

i found this on the net. i think you need the zelda game to make it work, but if there is an elf loader for the wii then you should be able to load the game save from it.
i use the method posted and it says can't find ELF. but i followwed to a T, i going to keep on trying

you have to rename the wadinstaller into "boot.elf" and put it in the root of your SD.

I've seen several posts over several forums that advise against installing these vc games because Nintendo can detect them easily and disable via an update. What's the general opinion here, safe to install or not worth the bother?

Does anyone know if one of the recent Wii updates has patched the Twilight hack? Just wanted to know for sure, as I didn't want to go through the 2nd method of loading wads using the Trucha Signer and an iso. Thanks!

There was a rumor that the new updates blocked trucha signed disks, but that turned out to be just a rumor.

I dont think that they can block the twilight hack with firmware updates. It exploits a glitch in the zelda game rather than a firmware glitch.

Hmm... just like MechWarrior and Splinter Cell on the original Xbox. Very cool indeed, I will need to check this out when I get home later.

I have followed the tut and everything has been working fine.....or so I thought. I successfully installed 7 or 8 of the wad games onto my 3.1 Wii (D2A with Wiikey) but when I play them, it keeps thinking I have the right direction on the d-pad pressed down. I tried disconnecting the Wiimote from the Wii and reconnecting, using a different Wiimote, and reinstalling the console game. If anybody else has seen or heard of a solution, please post. Thx.

the most recent update includes an update of the firmware to IOS37 that plugs the hole exploited by trucha signer and datel's freeloader. thing is, reports say nintendo has not activated it yet. when it's activated, these hacked vc games will stop working cause they were signed using trucha

Yeah, but MS also had the ability to update the kernel of the original Xbox software and the only way they were able to patch the software exploit of MechWarrior was to discontinue one of their board designs and redesign their hardware so it could not be hacked.

As mentioned above, I would be very surprised if Nintendo can block the signed files.

Also, didn't they kept the exploit of this Trucha signature under their hat so it could not be leaked and thus blocked?

Create a game save with Zelda first and copy it to your SD card. This will create the necessary folder structure needed for the Wii to "see" the hacked file. (The folder will be something like private\wii\title\rzde\) backup or delete the save file from this folder, then copy the hacked save file into the folder, naming it data.bin. The Wii should see it now.

Also be sure that the root directory only contains 2 folders and 1 file (wad and private folders and boot.elf file.)
